Gannon8 Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Just wondering if anyone found a continuum-compatible antivirus and firewall program. The sticky shows stuff you can't use, but not stuff that does work. Heck, I'm going to test stuff to see if it works and make a list. Then they should sticky it =) Check out some of my models! I currently have a Lancaster and a weasel modeled! http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=12003
Hakaku Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Well, it depends on what OS you're running. 99% of cases where firewalls block Continuum happen on Windows XP. Since 0.40 though, a lot of problems (if not most) should have been fixed. But always remember to add Continuum to the exceptions list of your firewall(s), and check for other issues such as DEP. When I had McAfee on XP though, I never really encountered any problems, except the occasional unresponsiveness due to 0.39pr1's "security" implementations. On Vista however, I can run any antivirus programs or firewalls without any problems at all. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/zacinu/SubSpacebannt2.pngPSPACE (SourceForge) - Alternative client (source) to Continuum
rootbear75 Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 i havent had an issue w/ continuum and sophos except for the fact that sophos thought that continuum was a virus. apparently the same unpacking tool/installer used had all the trademarks of an installer that virus makers used. I quickly sent an email off to sophos AV, and they got it fixed w/in a few days http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t54/badgersocks/FHTG/FHTG%20-%20redone%20shizniz/tgmember11.pngrootbear75> here is me nude <spoiler tag: Pervert... how many of you actually clicked this?>Samapico> I actually clicked the spoiler before reading what it was Corey> I clicked it cause i read what sama said first. darkreb0rn> I clicked it because I wanted to see you naked... rootbear75> O.o __________________________________2:IdleRPG> Mr Snuffleluphagus walked face-first into a tree. Cancer+ Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 If there is a prominenet solution, this will be pinned. This is/was a big problem with Continuum. Find one and we will post it. Thanks http://card.mygamercard.net/gelsig/black/cancer2687.png
★ Purge Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 NAV and BitDefender work fine with Continuum for me.
★ doc flabby Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) I've yet to find an AV that DOESNT work with continuum Free AV Confirmed to work with Continuum.Anti-Vir http://www.free-av.com/AVG http://free.grisoft.com/Paid AV Confirmed to workNorman http://www.norman.com/Norton (but dont use it lol)F-Prot http://www.f-prot.com/ Alot of problems people blame on AV here acctually are caused by spyware infecting there computer. Which is why reinstalling windows "fixes" the problem. Edited May 14, 2008 by doc flabby Rediscover online gaming. Get Subspace.Owner of the PlaySubSpace Network (level 0 BanG) and PSSF server
🜲 Samapico Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Most programs listed as 'doesn't work' always worked for me. So it's not a direct cause-consequence thing... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/88/Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg/120px-Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg.pngDCME co-developerSSCU 17th Parallel sysop
