X`terrania Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 (edited) NASA to Announce Success of Long Galactic Hunt WASHINGTON -- NASA has scheduled a media teleconference Wednesday, May 14, at 1 p.m. EDT, to announce the discovery of an object in our Galaxy astronomers have been hunting for more than 50 years. This finding was made by combining data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory with ground-based observations.http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2008/may/H...a_Advisory.html live audio stream for when it happens: http://www.nasa.gov/news/media/newsaudio/index.html BLACK HOLES?? Edited May 13, 2008 by X`terrania it's all a joke.
Aceflyer Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 No, astronomers have found black holes in our galaxy long ago. Maybe a wormhole? Or more likely some kind of new exotic dwarf star.
Hakaku Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 It might possibly be Planet X, something to do with superm!@#$%^&*ive black holes, an Earth-like planet, the apocalypse, a wormhole, aliens, or something else just as silly. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/zacinu/SubSpacebannt2.pngPSPACE (SourceForge) - Alternative client (source) to Continuum

🜲 Samapico Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 I bet 5 HS$ they'll announce the end of the world in 2012 by a massive asteroid. WE'RE DOOMED PACK UR STUFF, WE'RE GOING TO HAWAII ... Hawaii looks like a fun place to die. ... I'm not even sure if I have 5 HS$ ... I think some dude gave me a bunch for no particular reason... or were those DS credits... anyway.Oh, I bet 5 points from the casino thingy. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/88/Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg/120px-Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg.pngDCME co-developerSSCU 17th Parallel sysop
enigma- Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Oh noes end of the world. People should just line up and get shot if that onna happen. Or enjoy EVERYTHING they ever wanted to do and go die. http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk74/lera_ss/mints2.jpg
Aceflyer Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 It might possibly be Planet X, something to do with superm!@#$%^&*ive black holes, an Earth-like planet, the apocalypse, a wormhole, aliens, or something else just as silly. If it was the apocalypse or aliens I'm sure there'd be a lot more 'pre-announcement buildup' chatter arranged among the press and on the WWW. And if it was either of those two, would more probably be announced by the President than by NASA. It's probably some scientific finding that will have little import for non-astrophysicists. Maybe they've located the city of Atlantis in the Pegasus Dwarf Galaxy, who knows?

🜲 PoLiX Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 mm. It could very possibly be a black hole. They've been searching for many years to see if there is a blackhole at the center of galaxys. I'm kind of curious now.. SSForum.net - September 01, 2002 - Rowen (SSDownloads.Com), PoLiX (SSCentral.Com), and Cyberise (Subspace.Net)
FMBI Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 There are so many things they've been searching for for at least 50 years.. Maybe a naked singularity? I FUCKING HATE THIS VERSION OF THE FORUMS. IF YOU FUCKING HATE THIS VERSION OF THE FORUMS, PASS THIS SIGNATURE ON TO SIX PEOPLE IN THE NEXT 5 MINUTES OR A FAT HAIRY AXE-MURDERER (this man identifies himself as "rootbear") WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND EAT YOUR CHILDREN. AND YOU.
X`terrania Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 It can't be Planet X, I don't know if the Chandra has anything to do with actual planets rather than just areas of gas, but yeah I'm sticking with my black hole and taking Polix's center of the galaxy. it's all a joke.
Yavaris Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 (edited) OMG I found some exclusive leaked radar footage of their discovery! X`terrania Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 I hope not, why else would they decide to hide it and present it at a press conference, only to have some 2-bit reporter leak it ;// it's all a joke.
X`terrania Posted May 14, 2008 Author Report Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) Well, they discovered the remnants of a Supernova that exploded about 140 years ago, we weren't able to see it explode because it was obscured by dust or something. Pretty neat? And of course the lady screening the calls let two or three people in, one was right before the show complaining that he wasn't able to get his vagina question in, another asked whether or not NASA would be !@#$%^&*isting us in ridding the Earth of moon crickets, umm, haha, at the end of the show the scientist remarked that "it went pretty well, except for a few loonies." http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/...80514131118.htm http://rapidshare.com/files/114895813/rec0514-180731.rarSCAN IT FOR VIRUSES LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. I don't have my antivirus program on, but since /b/ provided it'll probably be clean edit: clean. someone recorded the live audio stream and uploaded. Aceflyer Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Wait, they've been searching for the remnants of this supernova for more than 50 years?
