GetContinuum.com, the official SubSpace/Continuum portal

Official? How is it official in any way?

According to SSWiki, the Subspace Continuum Wikipedia:

GetContinuum.com - The official SubSpace/Continuum portal.

And Nav Bar Updated.

mm? I still don't see a link to GetContinuum.com anywhere in the nav bar... nor do I notice any changes to it, for that matter...

Rather than adding a new button or replacing the current one, just make it so that when you click it, it goes directly to a download page (or directly link the download, but that might just be evil)

But anyhow Ace, look under "community resources", there's 3 download links there.

I never edited that cause I never thought anyone would take it so seriously... but really, it is not. As me and TT and others have discussed, GetContinuum.com is a great page to point possible new players to for information, yes. But once they get started, it really doesn't help them in any way, as they can find the same links they need elsewhere, or on their zones website. So really, calling it the official portal, is kind of misleading. It is more the Official Continuum Advertising website if anything, which as I remember, is what Wonderer was originally aiming for.

I dont find that strange at all. Everyone knows where to get continuum from. SSDL is far from dead.

what do you mean? Its strange for the exact reason why you didnt want the "Download Continuum Now" link pointing to GetContinuum.com

What happens if the server's down?

(yes i know there is the "Mirror" link... but still...)

arent you the one who edited that?

Nope, I wasn't the one who wrote that. I had !@#$%^&*umed PoLiX did, since he contributed most of the content to that page and locked it early on so that not even Wiki Mods can edit it.

speaking of subspacedownloads.com, I noticed when you click on "How do I play subspace/continuum?" and then on "download" it has you download version 0.38 ;)

Yeah, much of that site really needs to be updated, as previous posters in this thread have already pointed out. Don't get me wrong, it's an invaluable cornerstone of the Continuum community, but it's still out of date. blum.gif

^Nope I'm the one who added all the links, although I just ported them from Wikipedia.

GetContinuum is evidently a web portal though, whether or not it's "official" won't change the world.

I think the navbar is a great place for it tbh, as a secondary button is a better option then using the bit that says "subspace" imo

The plan is in the works for subspacedownloads.com Expect some leetness soon Takes a bit of time because we are waiting for a particular piece of software to come out of beta prior to upgrading.

how long is that likely to take? I hope its not one of these things that will be in beta forever (ahem Gmail)

Hmm... I think the navbar should link to the download pages, not the file directly. It would make them familiar with the site in question, and they would be likely to click some other links around and learn stuff.

Or maybe not, I think it's really a personal preference, but both ways are fine I guess.

I'm with Sama on this. GetContinuum.com, for instance, has a lot of resources that would be helpful to someone just starting out. smile.gif

What me and TT have planned for SSF/SSC/SSDL will unite the sites more than they have ever been before. The particular piece of software should be out of beta at the latest in June. Possibly earlier. At such point I will help w/ setup, and getting the administrators comfortable w/ such product. It should really help make things easier for them, and require less of my activity or need be called upon.

nicely done who ever added 'download now!' , clean and simple :D, however not too obvious to the untrained eye

Changed it a bit...

maybe you could add a "What is Continuum?" link next to "Download now!" that brings you to getcontinuum.com or somewhere else that explains what the game is. If someone stumples upon this forum, they're not very likely to just download the game if they don't have any idea what the game is like.
