»1587200 Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 if you're !@#$%^&* could just not ban half the members all the time, me and swift had once talked about you taking over administration here. We settle this now. Get your !@#$%^&* on AIM, MSN, or some other IM, or in game, whatever.
Confess Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Oh noes! A battle to the death! Who will win - Syrus or Polix? I place $100 Monopoly money on Syrus, and 100 on Polix! You've done a lot for the community - and myself, Polix. Thank you for everything that you've done. If you need anything, just send me a message and I'd be glad to help you out with whatever. I am also willing to give any kind of help you need with the forums, just send me a message.

CRe Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Give me admin HAHAHAHA Thanks X`terr... I needed that laugh. ^^ <_<
candygirl Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Take care, its been fun, appreciate all you done.Yeah, wow. This is crazy. I'm speechless. I just hope you are happy with your decision. Stay in touch.Wow, I really didn't see this coming, but I wish the best of luck for you Polix, you've definitely helped out this community so much over the years and we couldn't appreciate it enough. everything im thinking is said above same
X`terrania Posted May 3, 2008 Report Posted May 3, 2008 Haha, maybe when !@#$%^&* freezes over you'll get stuck in a block of ice, jkjk ^.^: Polix, what do you plan on doing once you leave us to die <_<
Cancer+ Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Yeah, no he shouldn't. Anyways, lets not turn this into a "I SHOULD GET ADMIN" or "HE SHOULD GET ADMIN!" Polix has obviously already chosen his successor and I'm sure it is one of the people he has already mentioned.
Aceflyer Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Yeah, no he shouldn't. Anyways, lets not turn this into a "I SHOULD GET ADMIN" or "HE SHOULD GET ADMIN!" Polix has obviously already chosen his successor and I'm sure it is one of the people he has already mentioned. Agreed. IMHO, well said.
PoLiX Posted May 4, 2008 Author Report Posted May 4, 2008 Once all is finished... D1st0rt and Samapico will for sure take command of SSForum.net. Freakmonger has not been around, but Trained is getting some of the things needed to finish SSCentral done. So imho, may offer to hand it over to him. I am going to try and get T-man re-involved in his site again, and maybe him and trained take it all over. I'll probably be around to post from time to time, but really, my focus on this community has become null. I am finishing a few final projects, but I have other things I'd rather pursue rather then spending my time on these sites. I'm tired of feeling like I'm ignoring my g/f and friends to work on these sites and keep them up and maintained. I have put a lot of time and energy to get them back alive and running, and now it is time for others to run w/ them. As Swift had said the many times he's told me to just quit like he did, it gets old when 1 man has to do all the work, due to those who have the knowledge to help, don't. So I have had to take time, and help teach, watch, and wait til people could learn to do the things needed to run, update, and work on these sites. Those who know how, won't, and it really kicks the community in the nuts. I mean, sorry to say it, but Freakmonger couldn't code his way out of a box w/ an html cheat sheet, but he tries, so I give him credit for that. Trained I had to teach a lot of html standards, and such, so sscentral would be W3C XHTML certified, and I didn't spend all my time recoding his and freak's pages (although I ended up doing it still, but he's got the knowledge now, so noone should have to in the future). But I think they can learn, and will learn in their actions. Next to Swift, these guys have been the most promising in my eyes to take over these sites in all my years running them. So I put full trust in them, and !@#$%^&*ure you that you can also.
JDS Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 well I hardly see running a forum as a lot of work..
Sass Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Yeah ok here's what will happen. A couple people will get pissed at the way the new guys run the forum and this of course will leak back to you. When it does, you get all flustered and say you're back because of the problems. Then people will come to you again and they'll do this in attempt to override the ways that the new people run things causing a stir. You'll be back. If you really want to leave, kill ssforum, and people will just use MGBs forums.
Samapico Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 yeah... rrriiiiiiiight.... I don't think that my super idea of forcing people to post picture of themselves wearing fishnet stockings to register will ruin the place... really... We'd make great money by then selling these pics to some weird sites.
Resol Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Good luck. I respect and fully understand your situation. Live life a little.

We'd raise a heck of a lot of money that way. well I hardly see running a forum as a lot of work.. Behind any populated zone there is a ton of behind-the-scenes work that is necessary to keep things running. You wouldn't understand this if you haven't been among the upper staff in a populated Continuum zone [1]. [1] I am including SSForum.net when I refer to 'zone' above.

I trust polix judgement to make sure a smooth transition is made rather then one where "friend" a takes over and buggers it up. Would still be great you see ya around polix don't get me wrong, but real life always has to come first so i think all will understand.

If you really want to leave, kill ssforum, and people will just use MGBs forums. I was gone for 8 months. Only reason I came back, was to help out Swift. He moved up here to WA and stuff, and needed help on ssforum w/ some things. We we're hangin at his place, and he asked me to do a few things for him, before you know it, I was back in charge of things. He has since quit, and honestly, no offense to anyone, but anyone I would consider a friend in this game, like I did him, has pretty much retired. The people I talked to daily, worked w/ daily, and would meet irl if it ever came up (IE: Swift, and helping him get settled here in WA). On top of having a new job, and possibly keeping a 2nd job, I am going to have little time to even spend behind a PC. Any free time will be spent w/ her and friends. The only time I may come back here, is to see if it is still running. As Swift may forget, or not have ability to renew it again, and this time lose it. Anyways, gonna be sending pm's w/ all the passwords and users needed. Giving D1st0rt control of the WHMs. Freakmonger should already have this, so they should be able to handle things. All for now.
rootbear75 Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 why dont you p!@#$%^&* off domain registration to the new admin
Hakaku Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 I completely support you Polix. When it comes to matters in real life, it's best not to feel like you're obligated to keep up with these things, and I remember being this the first thing I asked you before you appointed me TS mod. Anyhow, I wish best of luck to you, and to Sama, D1st0rt and Freakmonger.
X`terrania Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 None of us hate you for this, some of the people here understand what it's like to have friends who don't know if they can rely on you, etc, etc, and you begin to feel guilty for that and need to make a few changes. We all back you 100% on your decision, except for testtube (french canadian).
»Swift Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 No offense to anyone but my domain names are registered with OTHER domain names I actually hold and maintain for other people outside of SubSpace on my 2 registars. I would prefer to keep them with me and what it funny is when people email me telling me to renew them hehe, it's a bad habit of sitting out on the retired community of SubSpace to have Scott call me on my cellphone saying Joe you nub renew the domain. I'm then like oh is it that time of year again? And do it. By the way, for those of you who visit SSCouncil.Com - it should be back up and running... had to renew that domain (oops!) but yea thank Wonderer for sending me the email otherwise I would have ignored it. At least this will give Scott and me more hanging out time.. although I think I'll do a trip up to the penninsula to hang out in his neck of the woods instead.. I'm going nostalgic here on the mainland of WA.

Ah, thanks, I hadn't noticed yet. Readded SSCouncil.com to the SSC Network links section at GetContinuum.com. Thanks Swift and Wonderer!

PoLiX Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 At least this will give Scott and me more hanging out time.. although I think I'll do a trip up to the penninsula to hang out in his neck of the woods instead.. I'm going nostalgic here on the mainland of WA. !@#$%^&*a. Come out here to the island. Saves me paying $3 to get off of it, lol. !@#$%^&*... gotta do that when I got pick the g/f up from the airport... my "Good to Go" is on my honda, not her car. Oh well... To the other posts, I'll still probably post occasionally, but my administration will be none. I'm fully LEAVING, just, no longer playing or administrating these forums. Granted I may be gone for months at a time, but eh, i'll try to drop in. And to JDS: trust me, there is a lot to do to keep these forums and site up and running. According to ACP ~3000 actions done by me since Jan 2006. Add in stuff in the ftp, file edits, reinstalls, etc. it consumes your time quickly. Also w/ sscentral, and getting wiki going, banning people like yourself, 007paul, etc. Cleaning crap up, dealing with bots and spammers, etc. etc. Before you know it, 3-4hrs has passed like nothing. And to add into that... Last month: ~400,000 hits from bots... ~195,000 unique visitors... ~2.9million hits total. We also pushed near the 30gb mark in b/w. So trust me, these forums are constantly getting hit up, and the db always needs some cleaning and monitoring. It has crashed 2x too many in the past, and my goal was it would never happen again. Really, the general posts of our forum, are what brings a lot of the traffic (Search engines), but almost 1.5million of those hits came from direct access (IE: Typed it in, bookmark, etc.). Anyways, gotta go pick up some flowers, and pick the g/f up from the airport. Later.
