Kilo Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 There's also a difference between fun and no one playing a broken concept. That's also why I suggested a blank slate + spending limit.
vetta64 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Problem solved: Have two tournement, on with stock ships, one with pubs. See how many people sign up for each. ^ 50th post
Suicide_Run Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Well guys, its time for you ppl to start earning that S!@#$%^&*.......but you better buy xradar cause Im gonna cloak your arse.
rootbear75 Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Firstly, why is that relevant? Secondly, stop talking about things you don't know anything about. It is relevant because this is the main reason why they wont do stock ships. Personally, I think they SHOULD use pub ships. It wouldn't be be a true hyperspace tournament if it were just stock ships. Any zone can host one of those. Fairness isn't the same thing as fun.brain, the point is, not everyone is at equal places on the money scale. It should be gone down to how you can use a certain amount of money to make your ship the best.Which is why i deviated from the "stock" option, and went for a "limited customization" option.
Kilo Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 That's bogus, we can do stock ships and limited customization with little effort at all, let alone waiting on the hscore rewrite to be done.
rootbear75 Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 i know...im just letting you know what ani was saying
Unix Posted April 26, 2008 Author Report Posted April 26, 2008 Personally, I think they SHOULD use pub ships. It wouldn't be be a true hyperspace tournament if it were just stock ships. Any zone can host one of those. Fairness isn't the same thing as fun.brain, the point is, not everyone is at equal places on the money scale. There is a reason why you now have 3-4 weeks to build up your ship/money. There is a reason why there is a non-signature HSDT version as well. If you cannot make a non-signature dueling ship in 3-4 weeks...well umm...
Kilo Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 (edited) I have a full ship and I'm still boycotting. It's just not a meaningful use of time. You know what? We already have a dueling tournament like this. It's called playing in center in public, except that's more interesting. Edited April 26, 2008 by Kilo
rootbear75 Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 If you cannot make a non-signature dueling ship in 3-4 weeks...well umm... a lot of people dont have the time to spend to make a non-sig ship in that time frame. give us a year, then maybe
Unix Posted April 26, 2008 Author Report Posted April 26, 2008 (edited) Update Prizes will be determined on the turnout of the two individual tournaments. If however they are a good turnout, the prizes will be as follows. Signature HSDT Prize-20k for winning duelist-10k for each player on squad roster-Free s!@#$%^&* on the ship of their choice for winning duelist Non-Signature HSDT Prize-20k for winning duelist-10k for each player on squad roster-Free signature on the ship of their choice for winning duelistNote: 2M signatures are not apart of your choice The prizes can potentially change, but as of now, this is what they're set at and remember, this is only if we have a good turnout, and a good turnout will be determined by myself and several staffers not to be named Edited April 26, 2008 by Unix
»Ceiu Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Actually, Arnk... As far as the whole balancing issue goes, you should embrace this. If you start seeing a lot of the same setup, you've likely got a balance issue. This is a quick (and well do!@#$%^&*ented) way to weed out such issues. However, the downside is that people with the money and time to fund such broken setups will likely dominate. Skill is important as well, but considering the number of one-hit-kill setups that exist currently (AHEM, wtf Arnk), it only takes a single move to win or lose a duel. My prediction: Sig setups will consist largely of the upgraded shredder, omega and/or ampere, with a falcon/shrap enhancement setup on the side. In fact, I believe you will see this setup dominate for the reason I stated above. Spam + OHK == TW == Fail. Negativity aside, Kudos to Unix for finally putting this together and not spending months debating how to solve the never-ending debate on what ships to use. I believe the people I'm ripping on with this comment know who we are.
Unix Posted April 27, 2008 Author Report Posted April 27, 2008 Side note about the prizes, shark still cannot receive signature and if your ship already has a s!@#$%^&*, it cannot and will not get another s!@#$%^&* on top of it.

Unix Posted April 28, 2008 Author Report Posted April 28, 2008 Alright, so this is how the HSDT will be ran from start to finish. -RegistrationSquad captains register for HSDT emailing their rosters to hyperspaceevents@gmail.com -SeedingFour days before match, each squad will send out ONE representative to send out in a 5 death limit free for all. Players who are eliminated first will receive the lowest seed and the player who survives will receive the top seed. Ties at the end will result in a sudden death bout. All ships must be within ship restrictions, if a player's ship is not, they will automatically receive one death. -Player ChoosingTwo days prior to the HSDT Squad Roster Topic squad captains choose their players and which ships they will be in. Cannot be the player that represented them in the seeding free for all match. -Player ShipsTwo days prior to the HSDT players will email their ship configuration to determine if their ship is within guidelines. -Day of Compe!@#$%^&*ionThere will be two duels ran at the same time. Depending on the number of players, the HSDT can potentially extend into either the next day or the next weekend depending on outcomes and pace of matches. -End of Compe!@#$%^&*ionPlayers will be rewarded their prizes accordingly by staff in a timely manner. This may take 7-14 business days (Joke) Subject to change v1.0 / 4-27-08
Matrim Cauthon Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 wow, the non-sig dueling league=better prizes and easier to kill in
Unix Posted April 28, 2008 Author Report Posted April 28, 2008 The time and effort needed to get s!@#$%^&* on some ships, ie: lanc is so annoying and hard to do it's worth a s!@#$%^&*. (S!@#$%^&* can also be sold to buy a signature item) You're in a non-sig ship too let's not forget

(S!@#$%^&* can also be sold to buy a signature item) You're in a non-sig ship too let's not forget well considering the fact that you have already limited which ships you can have in the tourney, what you just stated doesnt matter. You cant use a lanc in the tourney
protocol_ Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) its like in a sports compe!@#$%^&*ion... teams with the best record get the top seeds. (best record gets first seed, second gets the second seed, etc..)so the player selected from each squad will go out and battle in a 5 death match. The one with the most kills gets first seed and will most likely face the person who got the least kills in the first round of the tournament. Edited April 28, 2008 by protocol_

We already have a dueling tournament like this. It's called playing in center in public, except that's more interesting. then stop !@#$%^&*ing and just dont take part like you clearly stated above. oh and centering in public is completely different than a dueling tournament.
protocol_ Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Root the answer to your problem was already stated above too but here it is again. Signature HSDT Prize-20k for winning duelist-10k for each player on squad roster-Free s!@#$%^&* on the ship of their choice for winning duelist Non-Signature HSDT Prize-20k for winning duelist-10k for each player on squad roster-Free signature on the ship of their choice for winning duelistNote: 2M signatures are not apart of your choice smile.gif i put your answer in bold for ya.
Unix Posted April 28, 2008 Author Report Posted April 28, 2008 Just to clarify something about ship items, I forgot to make sure it was 100% clear.... Should you ships have a restricted item in the FFA seeding not only will you be stripped of that item, but you will also forfeit one death. However, you will have your item replaced with an item of your choosing, then after the match it will be replaced to it's original item. If you do not want to be penalized the one death and you do not want to purchase an item to subs!@#$%^&*ute it for the FFA match you must notify myself at least 24 hrs prior to match so that I am made aware of it so that I can edit it for you before the FFA begins. During the HSDT however, you must notify me in your email about any restricted items otherwise you forfeit your first match.
