Unix Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Alright, as my first real act as the event coordinator of Hyperspace, Hyperspace will be conducting the first ever squad based Dueling Tournament. Just how exactly is this going to be squad based? -Each squad will send out two representatives in the duel tournament. (Note: The only way that your will go up against your teammate will be if both make it to the DT finals). This is unfair, this favors big ships!!! -Since is is going to be the first duel tournament in Hyperspace, we will only be doing small ships, so ships 1/2/8. Further down the line there might be an unrestricted ship type dueling tournament, but as it stands now, the first one will be 1/2/8 only. Still unfair, I dont have a sig on my ship!!! -Well the obvious option would be to get one, but to even accommodate people further, there will be a second dueling tournament that runs in unison with the other. There will be a Signature DT and a Non-Signature DT. What are the specifics?-The main thing will be... Pub ships will be used, a dueling box will be used, and there's not going to be any specials allowed when dueling. The biggest thing though will effect how the DT is done will be the fact that there will only be limited running allowed, the main reason being that running delays the DT. How much money are we going to get?-Unknown!!! When is this happening? I still have to make my dueling ship!!!! -Obviously it's unfair to expect squads to be made, people to have ships ready, so the HSDT will be done in approximately three to four weeks. There will be an official date for the start of the HSDT as the time draws near. Where can I practice? We dont have a duel arena with duel boxes!!! -A duel arena with simple boxes that will be similar to the HSDT boxes will be made available soon for players to practice in. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any other comments or questions, please feel free to ask in this topic,
rootbear75 Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 my ship sucks... and all of the stupid swearing fines arent helping either
jacob hunter! Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Unix correct me if i'm wrong but is this going to be the regular warbird ship when you first start out playing in pub or is this going to be any upgraded ship that people can use or build? In my opinion I would have a set warbird ship for each dueling to make it fair and be an actualy dt with skill ect...
Suicide_Run Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) "Pub ships will be used" Attraction. From what I can tell, you can just change your ship settings to w/e you like. Its time I lame up my ship 1/2 for this. Hyperspace will be conducting the first ever squad based Dueling Tournament. Not really a squad based when all it is, is 2 people from a squad gets throw into the mix of 1v1 dueling. There is no squad based teamwork involved in a 1v1 dueling. Not to mention Im gonna make a 2 person squad just so I can join no matter what. Edited April 24, 2008 by Suicide_Run
Kilo Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Pub ships used in a tournament? Terrible.Go with stock ships to make it meaningful and worthwhile.
vetta64 Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Make all the ships even, then its all about skill baby.
Unix Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 Not to mention Im gonna make a 2 person squad just so I can join no matter what. Thanks for reminding me Squads must be made of at least 8 people. I'll be starting a registration topic in about a week. Larger squads can also split their squad up, such as Squad1 Squad2 with the same name, just different numbers. So being apart of a large compe!@#$%^&*ive squad will not be a negative, and at the same time we can keep the squads who participate to a respectable small enough number, since we dont want to have those two person squads
rootbear75 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 you didnt even address the main concern... people with better stuff are obviously going to win, rather than the people with most skill... MAKE THE SHIPS EVEN AND THE SAME!
Unix Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) you didnt even address the main concern... people with better stuff are obviously going to win, rather than the people with most skill... MAKE THE SHIPS EVEN AND THE SAME!This is Hyperspace, this zone is built on the fact you can build your ship to not only the way you like, but also to counter other ships. There is no such thing as a ship that is invincible, each ship has their own respective weakness. Not to mention, there will be a Non-Signature HSDT that will be ran at the same time. And you will have 3-4 to build your ship. Edited April 25, 2008 by Unix
Kilo Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Public ships should never be used out of public. Either use stock ships or give people a new set of ships with a spending limit.

Kilo Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Welcome to Hyperspace? You mean where we already don't use public ships outside of public? Thanks for your support, Relos.
rootbear75 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 all i know is that this tourney is going to fail...

rootbear75 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 and i dont give a rat's !@#$%^&* what you said about the complete rewriting of HSCORE...if you want a proper tourney, then a least put the work in.
Dadoc Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) I agree. There should be set ships or a spending limit. Question: Why is it based on squad? Why aren't people allowed to duel, even if they have no squad or are in a small squad? Just curious. Edited April 25, 2008 by Kelaiah
Kilo Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Oh, I didn't even read that dumb part because Iwas too busy complaining about the really dumb part. Let's promote squad disharmony! I thought the point of joining a squad was to play with a team, not sit out while your team plays. Great idea! You realize that if you go ahead and do that, then the finals are going to be like the second round rite, !@#$%^&*uming you're only counting legitimate squads? KISS.
Dadoc Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) Maybe a tourney might be fun instead, if its not too far off topic For those who may not know i mean a 2vs2...if we must have 2 from each squad anyway... Just a thought. Edited April 25, 2008 by Kelaiah
rootbear75 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 ^um?ani and unix were going on about "oh the whole core system needs to be rewritten"it is NOT hard to copy the code and change a few key parts
Kilo Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Firstly, why is that relevant? Secondly, stop talking about things you don't know anything about.
Dr Brain Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Personally, I think they SHOULD use pub ships. It wouldn't be be a true hyperspace tournament if it were just stock ships. Any zone can host one of those. Fairness isn't the same thing as fun.
