If someone on here who has CS:S is willing to let me use their Steam account for a little while I'd be really grateful. I'm only looking to play it for a few days and decide if I want to go ahead and buy it.

And I won't steal it, I promisee.

Well if he gave me a down payment I might let him use my Steam account. You see, by Valve's TOS you are not allowed to share your Steam account. This is mainly a big trust issue. If I, for example, let him borrow my Steam account -- I run the risk of my password being changed, my account being screwed with, or being VAC banned.

Send me $100 through PayPal and I'll let you use my account. Once you're done I'll refund that $100 completely. Sound good? Or if not $100, something equivalent to the value of my account so that if it were screwed with to begin with I could go and duplicate the account as a fresh and untouched/unused account.

What the !@#$%^&*? I promised I wouldn't mess with anybody's account, I know what it's like to have your !@#$%^&* !@#$%^&*ed with.

For a community we sure don't put a lot of trust into each other .______.

I wouldn't trust anyone on the internet, or call them friends. What's stopping you from stealing the account besides the fact that you promised you wouldn't?

Just, I really don't have anything to gain from stealing an account on a video game, I'm only wanting to test it for a bit ;/ I already said if I steal it then they can tell Polix and ban me from ssforums if they wanted, and it's real easy to recover a steam account.

You have the account to gain. I don't have steam so I don't know how easy it is to recover.

Not hating or anything but I just wouldn't trust anyone on here, i'm pretty sure most people would feel the same.

No i dont think recovering steam account can be that easy. Since you got the password, you can just change that and the email address so recovery thru email dont work.

Though im not sure if you can email valve and ask tell them you got "hacked" and get it recovered.

I'm more concerned about being VAC banned, you see. And the last time since I had my account's password reset Valve's policies for password reset or reclaiming a hijacked account was very loose and unrestricted. The rules are very strict now and I'm afraid that I might not be able to reclaim my account if it were hijacked again. I just don't want to go through with it again.

If you get my account VAC banned for Source-based games, that's permanent. Valve won't undo that. Other points have been made and supported already by the above replies. That $100 would secure trust -- and I would only use as much of it as I would have to if you devalued any part of my account (such as getting it VAC banned for Source games) to regain that original value; other wise I would completely refund all of it after you would be done using it since there was no value lost from my account during your session with it.

If you don't accept my offer, then that's fine with me. Just something I won't have to worry or think about. smile.gif

You e-mail them, and they'll do checks on it. My friend's steam got hijacked once, and then his gmail got hijacked shortly after, he got a new email and sent an e-mail to Steam, and shortly after they did some checking they gave him back the account.
