MillenniumMan Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 After a horrible malware attack, many of my settings were screwed up. I'm just getting around to repairing most of the damage, but can't seem to undo what it's done to Continuum, Even though the EXE is clean, the game simply refuses to run, or run twice... I have no antivirus, spysweepers or scanners running when opening continuum, but it refuses to load properly. When I open the task manager, it shows two instances ot continuum are running at the same time (they weren't before) and I can't end either process in the task manager. So after this, I start up spy sweeper to shut down the process, but it shuts down both instances at the same time. Then I get the message "Fatal error 0000016a" Is there something in the registry, a key or something else I'm missing so I can get back into the game?
Shock Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=13180 Uninstall SpySweeper. Problem solved. (I hope)
MillenniumMan Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=13180 Uninstall SpySweeper. Problem solved. (I hope) I meant spyhunter. And nope, nothing. The problem was happening before SH but after the malware attack.
Shock Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Uninstall any spyware program that you have. There are a few that I know of that don't conflict with Continuum. Adaware, for instance, even Spybot, both of which are arguably the best spyware cleaning programs you can get. Have you tried reinstalling?
Hakaku Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 1. Have you tried restarting your computer? 2. I've heard of something similar before with fatal error 0000012b, have you tried using a registry cleaner? Or rather, I'd recommend manually deleting Continuum's registry using regedit (Windows Registry Editor). You'll probably have to uninstall Continuum first, and restart your computer before trying a new install (I might even recommend installing it under a different user). 3. Although probably not what you're seeking as an answer, but you might want to consider reformatting if the problem persists.

Haven't tried a registry cleaner, and I tried looking for continuums registry entries, but no dice finding them. Did uninstall continuum though before reinstalling.3. Much of my data is backed up, but I'd still need to backup my homemade pron with my GF Errrrrrrr........... I mean loud screechy noises formated in MP3 format (2.3 Gb or so) and my DVD-RW drive only records in CD mode now.
tcsoccerman Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 continuum wouldn't load for me once too. i fixed it by deleting some theme managers, like the kind that set your screensaver, desktop, icon size, all that. that fixed it for me.
MillenniumMan Posted April 9, 2008 Author Report Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) It took a while to find all the pertinant registry entries for continuum, but I fixed the problem and the client loads again. Some of my own work frustrated me (registry entries exist for thirdspace as continuum next level and subspace thirdspace) so it took a long time to find everything. Had nothing to do with any managers or scanners, just the damage the malware attack had. Ok, heading off now to hunt some of you down in the game Edited April 9, 2008 by MillenniumMan
