PoLiX Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 This is the discussion topic for the wiki article: Category:Servers
»1587200 Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) Maybe reorder the categories as SSC Authorized Servers and Independant Servers instead of alphabeticly. Edited March 30, 2008 by Guest
»1587200 Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Poopy. Can the public not add to the categories or what?
Hakaku Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 If you want to add things to categories, just create the page and add "[[Category:Servers]]" (or replace Servers by another category name)
Hakaku Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 On another note, is the server really SSCY, or did you mean SSCW? I'm not familiar with historical things, which is why I ask.And while I'm at it, can I request that "Subspace History" be renamed "SubSpace History" in the navbar (just to keep consistency). I also found this pdf do!@#$%^&*ent that relates to SubSpace's history, perhaps it could be of use to whoever wants to write that article.
»Purge Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 if you're interested in server history, this page gives some insight into the past servers. it also looks like it isn't updated to the current hosts.
Hakaku Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Alright, but it doesn't list SSCY, nor the former SSCW. Out of curiousity though, what's the difference between SSCX ~ and SSCE ~ (Exodus)? (as seen on 17th's stats page)
PoLiX Posted March 31, 2008 Author Report Posted March 31, 2008 SSCE = SSC VIE if I remember right. Most likely though since Ghost Ship was a VIE Sysop. Could of also been SSC East.SSCX = SSC Exodus / Xalimar. Exodus changed names to Savvis, the company which Xal and Yar worked for, major internet company. Best peer for hosts to have for West Coast USA gaming servers.SSCY = Nickname for Yarekim's SSCX2 server. Was the more powerful of the 2, and hosted EG, Chaos, and I forget which others. Funny enough his own zone was on SSCX1 though. Also need SSCA, SSCB, and SSCW. I just threw out the ones I could think of last night as I was adding tons of pages.
PoLiX Posted March 31, 2008 Author Report Posted March 31, 2008 Also servers like Inet (SSCU previous to SSC), Tnet (TT's server), SSZ, SSXH, ExS, etc.
Hakaku Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Ah ok, I just !@#$%^&*umed SSCX1 and SSCX2 were both named the same (SSCX) without distinction. Did Exodus, before Savvis, have East and West servers, hence the reason for ''SSCX" (West American) and "SSCE" (East American)? Or else I wouldn't understand why SSCE would have been hosted in the West, rather than East.
PoLiX Posted April 1, 2008 Author Report Posted April 1, 2008 SSCX1 and SSCX2 we're SSCX, but SSCX2 was also jokingly called SSCY, always have had some SSCX zone players ask about it, so figured would just add it there. SSCE was in Philidelphia or New Jersey, and was on Verio(sp?) I think, don't quite remember, but wasn't Exodus. New SSCE has nothin to do w/ original SSCE.
