In a place where we often criticise the way people can get power in this game the last thing we need is people buying special treatment.

It's usually meant as an incentive to motivate others to donate money as well, rather than boost those players' egos in question.

Yup, I think this is why the Gold Members group here was created in the first place, too, to encourage members to donate.
