Weed Patrol(gold) Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Something that I noticed(and im sure everyone has) that one of the best way to make money is through basing, both attacking and defending. But it seems like a lot of players only like to base when the jackpot is high. Recalling a moment the other night, the pub freq had all the flags, just to have that player newt them in the hypertunnel. Instead of basing and making some money and exp, that person just gave the flags away, just because the jackpot has not gotten high enough. New players have no chance to make money centering, and basing is the way to go. In order to get newer players into the zone, basing should be the way to go. Quote
JDS Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Whoever carries the flags gets to decide what he wants to do with them... i Could suggest you getting the flags and making the initiative to start a base game Quote
Weed Patrol(gold) Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 But I thought Hyperspace was a flag basing game?? Sure its ok to center and such, but if this zone is going to was any new players(such as myself, reading some of these posts, I guess the old set of weapons was much better than these) to try out this zone, I FEEL that they need to be given a fair chance to progress. And I FEEL the best way to do that is the basing game. Some vets, older players, whatever you want to call yourself, need to put their own personal ajenda aside for the good of the zone. Quote
vetta64 Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 I strongly agree, I always love to base, but in the past several months Ive gotten used to the fact that sometimes there are basing games, and some times there are not. Why are there times when noone wants to base I dont know but thats the way it is and I keep playing so I can increase my ships and do better the next time there is basing going on. Quote
»D1st0rt Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 It might have to do with players not realizing that basing is a pretty good way to increase the jackpot Quote
Weed Patrol(gold) Posted March 29, 2008 Author Report Posted March 29, 2008 Maybe if there was some kind of incentive for basing. I'm not talking about jacking the jackpot up to ungodly amount like I have heard of before in the past, but I strongly feel that this should be looked into. Its looking into preserving the integrity of the game for new players. Quote
Choose Profile Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 hyperspace is not and has never been about the players. Quote
Matrim Cauthon Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 most people dont like basing because they dont know how to make a basing ship or have the money to make 1, so they keep losing Quote
oid Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 People would probably start basing if the jackpot didn't increase insanely slow. Quote
rootbear75 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 hyperspace is not and has never been about the players.yup, its always been about Dr.Brain Quote

Unix Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 Problem with basing is that generally the teams are fairly one sided for one reason or another. Because of that, the attacking team generally doesnt see a point in attacking, seeing as how many times rushing causes a loss of money, rather than a gain, and defending 90% of the time even if you are rushing will cause an increase of money. In other words, defenders have all the reason in the world to keep on defending, an attacking team has to have hope to find a way to become the defending team. And a lot of times, the defending team is "letting" the attacking team continue to attack, rather than wipe them out. As for the jackpot, it's increasing at half the pace. The five bnty increase is the root of the problem, since jackpot increases with the person's bounty increasing the jackpot. So if someone has a bounty of say 50 right now, before it would had been a bounty of 100, meaning a 50 pnt different in the jackpot. It might not seem like a lot, but imagine over 100 kills like that. Imagine over a spam of an entire flag game, it becomes a lot. If there was a way to keep teams even, then I think basing would continue on for a few hours, but as it is right now, no not really. Quote
Suicide_Run Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 People would probably start basing if the jackpot didn't increase insanely slow.If it did increase much faster, people will just win flag games more often in the fear of: crashes/losing base (and flags)/watching another team win. Quote
Weed Patrol(gold) Posted March 30, 2008 Author Report Posted March 30, 2008 most people dont like basing because they dont know how to make a basing ship or have the money to make 1, so they keep losing New people take time to get used to the game, noone is giving them a chance. They have to make money to get that ship that can work. People would probably start basing if the jackpot didn't increase insanely slow.If it did increase much faster, people will just win flag games more often in the fear of: crashes/losing base (and flags)/watching another team win. Crashes for the most part appear to be fixed, they dont happen as often as they do anymore, besides, if we had flags ready to base, why would someone purposly dump them?(I will not use names, but this person is a vet) And as far a losing a base, isnt that part of the game, the spirit of it? You defent that base for all its worth, and one little slip or close thor, and the base and flags are gone. What is the first thing you want to do, quit? No, get back there at get that sucker back. Basing dosent work when you have 2 pub freqs and 8 or 9 vets on one side and 1 or 2 on the other. Maybe there should be a way to maybe even the exp of the players amongst the freqs?? Quote
»D1st0rt Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 One of the problems with flag games here is that greed plays a larger role in the game. In zones where one flag game doesn't have any particular bearing on future games, veteran players are more likely to join a struggling team to make the game more interesting, and consequently more fun for everyone playing. Since hs bucks persist, this doesn't really happen as often because there is a direct compe!@#$%^&*ive advantage that comes from winning as much money as possible, even if it isn't as fun. It has been like this for a long time, and unfortunately the underlying cause for this type of behavior isn't going to change any time soon if at all. To the veteran players: If you want the zone to be more fun, even up the teams. Sure you might lose sometimes, but then it would actually mean something when you win. You might even find that facing some real compe!@#$%^&*ion in a base is more fun than running around center trying to see who mow down more stock ships before dying. It's also a great way to scout prospective new members for your squad. Just something to think about, not all gameplay improvements have to come from the staff/developers. Quote
