rootbear75 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Well apparently, there has been problems with Xbox burning rings (scratches) into discs if you use them frequently, but even though they will fix your console, they wont fix your discs.I'm like wtf, the xbox burned a ring into a rental disc, and microsoft is screwing me over because now im charged the full price for the disc. the problem lies because i cant afford the full cost of it.
Shock Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Just buff it out. It's not a big !@#$%^&* scratch, it's just a smudge-looking ring around the edge.
rootbear75 Posted March 27, 2008 Author Report Posted March 27, 2008 Just buff it out. It's not a big !@#$%^&* scratch, it's just a smudge-looking ring around the edge.it actually was. i put it thru my little repair thingy like 5 times, you can still see the scratch
rootbear75 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 Bet you wish you had that $10 back huh?no, because i would have used it on something else
Shock Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) Does the disc still work? Disc read errors in 360's are mostly related to the 360's laser, not the disc. If that was your problem, I suggest you get a lens cleaning CD and run it through your system. It doesn't make sense that the place you rented from would charge you for the game if it still works. rootbear75 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 the game works up until you click "Continue Career mode" If a game has been lost or damaged while in your possession, you will be responsible for the replacement fee for that game. https://gamefly.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/gamefl...amp;p_topview=1
Shock Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 So what exactly happened? You got it and it DID work, then it quit working? Did you report to Gamefly that it doesn't work, or did they contact YOU about it? I'd hope you didn't tattle on yourself.. I mean, you'd have to be a complete idiot, but I had to ask.
rootbear75 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 naw, i havent told them yet. i think im going to send it back. i was planning on sending it back tomorrow anyways. but i just dont want to get charged
Shock Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) It could just be your system dude. I've never heard of an Xbox 360 scratching a CD to a point where it doesn't work anymore. I highly doubt they take each returned game and put it into a system to see if it works. It probably won't catch back up with you unless someone else has problems with the same disc, in which they trace it back to you.. but you could claim it worked fine for you and the person currently having problems with it is the person that damaged it. A fool proof plan. $ EDIT: What game was it? Edited March 28, 2008 by Shock
»Purge Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 they probably run it through a laser machine to check if there is any damage to the disc. ah, how I miss the N64 days and running to Blockbuster.
rootbear75 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) actually, there was a whole batch of 360's that had problems. sec and ill get a link btw: the game was Need for speed: prostreet EDIT:http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/16/scratch-...iscs-after-all/http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/07/10/mi...e-disc-lawsuit/http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/16/xbox-36...says-microsoft/ Edited March 28, 2008 by rootbear75
Dav Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 i would get your console fixed asap and complain about the fact you are out of pocket due to THEIR error.
Incomplete Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Haven't had this with my xbox. Although I have heard about it. Maybe you should go to your rental store and say that it didn't work when you got it? That's what one of my friends do when one of his games are !@#$%^&*ed up. He rents them and exchanges them.....not that I want to lead people into that sort of behavior...

Lewadra Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Simple. Buy a PS3 and enjoy it. Xbox 360 is just total crap. It scratches discs if you tilt it..

It scratches discs if you tilt it..PS3 has no games, and it's only good as a blue ray DVD player and before the PS3 vs. 360 argument gets heated up yet again Close the topic1) for unnecessary bump2) avoid unnecessary console war
