I've seen where a lot of people have been having problems with Vista and SSC.. I just wanted to add that when I got my new computer and found out it had Vista on it, I was not happy.. When I went to load SSC, I was surprised to find I couldn't enter any zones either because it couldn't create that file.. I found out that I didn't have permission, if you will, to write to the hard disk.. But I discovered, that if you open My Computer, And right click on C:.. Then click on Properties and go to your Security tab.. As long as you have admin on your computer, set Authenticated Users to be able to write, I set mine to Full cause I'm the only one who uses it, and click Apply.. Then try going into your Zone..

This has fixed every persons unable to create problem that I've come across... Reading that he just re-downloaded the client to get it to work, was also helpful.. Just thought I'd add this to help others who have been on XP an now have Vista and it won't work.. <_< Hope this helps those who couldn't fix it with a new client download..

Yeah, Rootbear had written a whole faq about this, I don't know who or why it was removed. But in the end, whether you do it this way or disable the UAC, they both work the same way: you're giving yourself actual rights, where Vista tries to protect you from yourself.

Actually though, a simpler way would have been to not install Continuum in C:\Program Files\, since that's where you're going to end up with write problems.

Vista doesn't allow users to create files outside of select folder/registry structures without you being a normal administrator on the PC, or disabled UAC. This is one of the thing developers had to change in their applications to be "Vista" compatible.

They should make an allow button, disallow, or quarantine button or something with a check box that says always so users can actually use the computer. Windows is having to keep people from hurting themselves. It's like giving a knife to a kid to let him cut an apple and eat it, but he doesn't know how to use it even though he thinks he does, and he cuts himself. That's a true story btw.

actually as far as i know, you are going to end up w/ write problems in most places on the C:/ drive (or w/e your root drive is, whether it be D:/ H:/ M:/ or even Z:/ )

now i have a question: is it possible to go about Z: in drives? like can you have CC:/ etc...

I don't think it is possible. Who is going to have more than 26 drives. Even if they are par!@#$%^&*ioned. It would be stupid.

mapping server drives O.o

if you map a drive/folder on a server. it sometimes puts it as its own drive. i know. we had this at school. the H:/ drive was a server drive that was mapped whenever you logged in. the V:/ was a shared drive for all of the school/teachers. and the M:/ drive was for teachers
