Power companies definatelty will make this mandatory one day, it will come to a vote, and the people will vote for it.

I bet it will be has redicuelous as maybe even 1 hour everday at noon-o-clock or something. Lol, instead of lunch time they will call it dead hour.

Sure am...

My university across the street will turn off its lights too.

However... the TV will stay on... THERE'S HOCKEY TONIGHT. And there's no way I'll miss that.

I have a pretty good view of the downtown buildings from here, if I had a camera I'd take a pic at 7:59, and another at 8:05, see how many people turned them off blum.gif

I'll actually try to keep the lights off as much as possible during the day... what's more useless than turning on a light when it's sunny outside and the sun already lights up the whole place? bleh.

I had all my lights out, but it was disappointing to see 99% of my neighbourhood still lit. I don't think most people even knew about it around here.

I would have had no clue, except for reading it here. Wasn't even on the news at all.

I can't sit in the dark, I have a light on all night usaully, but I agree, if the sun is out, lights are out. I hate the yellowish nasty light anyway, UV is my friend.

I just have really sensitive eyes.

Just something to add to the Compact fluorescent light bulb thing..

Scientists are now saying that they can harm the environment a lot more than help it due to the amount of mercury in it. Apparently when you break one there is like a 10 step process to clean it up in order to get all the mercury cleaned up. Something like the mercury in one bulb can poison 1000 gallons of water or something.

Anyways, I changed most of the bulbs over to CF bulbs and the bill went down by about $20 a month. Good thing they last a long time cause I just found out the other day its illegal to throw them away in the trash when they die haha. The nearest facility that deals with them is about 2 hours away in Tampa.

I have problems with the CF lights as i can see the flicker in some of them- Have the same prob with normal floresents. Also dimmer switches don't work with CF :D

The future in lighting is LEDs, vastly more efficent and produce much more natural light, CFs will disappear in a couple of years smile.gif

I doubt LEDs will be devolved any time soon. They last indefinitely so businesses wont make enough money from them to commercialise it.

acording to newspaper, vancouver was able to cut back 7%, not bad

ive also been walking instead of driving, so i feel ive done my part

-on subject of leds, im pretty sure you cant even buy old style lightbulbs here, just flooresnt lights and what not... so i guess there is positive development... i see a bright led future for light energy consumption smile.gif
