I had some apprehensions about posting this topic as I know it might cons!@#$%^&*ute as "zone advertising" and break some kind of forum policy and quite possibly be deleted, but I really feel like reunions are a neat idea and that every zone that may be suffering a population loss or that has closed up shop might find this as a neat idea. SSCC Star Wars Empire (SWE) is a zone that recently untook the initiative to merge two opposing zones back in the day, SFSS/SSCT Star Wars (SW) and SSCE/SSCX Star Wars Realm (SWR). SWE is hosting a player reunion for it's now-offline rival zone, SWR!

The old zone, SSCE Star Wars Realm (SWR) where I used to play went offline years ago after populations died. Ever since I left subspace in 2003, I'd always felt this need to get a reunion of all the old SWR players. I came back full-time and have been developing SWE for 3 months to prep for such an event, and am now running an aggressive planning strategy for this SWR Reunion. I've found and emailed over 270 addresses of old SWR players and figured it wouldn't hurt to post about it here in the ssforums just in case some of you were SWR players. This is a great opportunity to see a bunch of your old fellow pilots from the years of about 2000-2005, maybe even earlier. And likely not just SWR players, but other players of those years! We're all networking and spreading the news though email, AIM/MSN, chats, and squads!

This Sunday, March 16, in SSCC Star Wars Empire, we are having an all-day drop-in-whenever-you-can SWR reunion with two scheduled events at 7pm EST (23:00GMT) and 8pm EST (00:00GMT), SWR's 2v2 and Doomball respectively. There will be random events hosted all day from the good SWR maps that we have uploaded for the reunion. We wanted to see if this kind of thing could be done, and from the email replies I've gotten, people love the idea of being able to sign on just once and being able to see everyone. No traveling necessary for this reunion, just in some cases a 4.7MB download! Just tonight in SWE (two days prior to the reunion), as a result of these emails miraculously going through, we had about 30-40 old SWR players (mostly vets) relog in after 4-5 years of no activity!! It was crazy fun and we went on guided tours of all the old sub arenas for about 6-7 hours. An absolute blast from the past! And that wasn't even the official date!

Anyways, if you used to play SWR or have some old SS buddies that played it that you haven't heard from, drop by around that event time to check to see if that old wingman of yours has relogged in. If nothing else, come in to see how we ran the reunion and do it for your zones!!! I think we all know in the back of our minds that it's a dying game, but why not end with huge grand finales and remembering the good old days instead of watching the candle run out in our lonesome, right? =D

Sidenote, since this is my first and likely last post that will be read by many SubSpacers: Thank you to everyone who puts in their time around SS and develops map editors, graphic editors, bots, server/billing solutions, hosts arenas, moderates the communities, and everything else around here, always making new ideas and breakthroughs in capabilities and event ideas, and just every player who just logs into SS knowing it's going to be a good time, every time. Thank you.

Happy trails to everyone in their personal en devours and may us all one day find something else obsess over once we've all moved on from SubSpace. And, may us all be willing to come back for that one day when someone makes the attempt at an electronic reunion. Cheers.

EDIT: Couple words didn't flow right. Yeah I guess I'm a bit Obsessive-Compulsive. =P

Glad to see that someone found my picture on Criznittle's site. Hahaha, man that was... 6 years ago. Neo for Halloween.

Thanks to all the 40-45 ex-SWR'ers that came back for our reunion!! We'll host more SWR games every Sunday night from now on, so no worries if you missed it! =D
