Samapico Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Would be cool if we could get some short tutorials for different tasks. These could be included in a help file and on DCME's wiki page. Short tutorials with clear steps, and some images. If any of you people feel like making one, go ahead and post it here When we have enough, we'll probably standardize the format a bit, and put them somewhere. Some things that could be tutorial'ed or have a help page:Creating a tilesetMoving tiles around in the tileset editorImporting tiles or images in your tileset using the 'source' imageEditing a tileGenerating a walltile set from a tile[*]Switch/Replace tiles[*]Using walltilesGenerating a walltile set from a tile (same as above)Creating walltile setsDrawing with walltiles[*]Using the selection tool[*]Using the magic wand tool[*]GridCustomize the gridShowing/Hiding the grid (duh )[*]Using the ... tool (could be done for all tools)[*]Navigating in the mapUsing the hand toolUsing the middle mouse button (which switches to hand temporarly)ArrowsMini-map (Full-map view; Radar view; 'GoTo' dialog when right-clicking the map)[*]Right panelWhat's in it? (tileset, coordinates, mini-map)Hide/Show it (and use of popup-tileset and popup-radar[*]LVZ stuffCreating a new LVZ archiveAdding imagesPlacing images on the mapSelecting images on the mapMoving images on the mapChanging images propertiesRemoving images from the mapRemoving images from a LVZ archiveAnimations[*]...*Note: Items in italic are expected to be modified soon, so it is not useful to create a complete guide for these yet. This would also be a good exercise to see what could be improved in the interface. There are already a couple of things I want to have eventually:"Edit tileset" and "Edit tile" functions accessible near the tilesetAdding a walltile set with the generator would add it on the defined walltile setsWalltiles will have their own tab on the tileset (like LVZ)So don't bother making help files related to these things yet. Well, you can always make one with some holes, or some steps that you think that's how it should be done (realistically... for example, no diagonal walltiles for now or things like that). Simple interface changes that make things easier will be welcome. I don't know much about help files... but I'm guessing a html format would be the way to go. Quote
ThunderJam Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Would be really great if someone could screen record some of the more tricky or less known things to do, make a youtube account jsut for dcme, and load them, then post all the vids on here. If you limit it to say ths least known features, or the features that ppl really dont know how to use, it wouldn't be too many vids, or too hard to do. If your looking for a really simple, free screen capture/record software, i know "Camstudio" is opensource/free Quote
JDS Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 il make a tutorial and youtube it, should be fun Quote
Samapico Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 Make sure to keep the higher-quality version, I might post it somewhere Quote
