X`terrania Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) Sup? Well, alright, for the past couple years I've been drinking/eating all these health products labeled as "0 calories", "low-sugar", etc etc. And I've been getting terribly sick these past couple years as well, always wondering what's wrong with me (fatigue, dizzyness, irritable, headaches, insomnia, fighting people no matter how many of them there are irl, always thirsty, minor cases of OCD.) and then I realized that it was the foods/drinks I was eating, I quickly checked the ingredients of nearly all of my so-called "health" products and I found this !@#$%^&* called aspartame in it. Upon discovering this I quickly did some research and found out some bad !@#$%^&* about it, so I tossed out anything containing aspartame/nutrasweet/splenda/equal and any other bull!@#$%^&* things this ingredient is marketed as. Anyways, I've been aspartame free since the 13th, now I feel more active & I'm starting to sleep better, but I'm going through totally horrid withdrawal effects - I can't stop shivering and I'm getting terrible migraines, it's almost like my body is totally dependent on aspartame now. The !@#$%^&* should be taken off the markets, people are trying to sue the companies but they're getting their cases thrown out. Anyways, I'm guessing the only way they were able to market it was 'cause the health regulation boards were paid large sums of money to p!@#$%^&* it. It's mostly found in diet !@#$%^&* (diet-coke, diet pepsi, coke zero, diet anything really, all "low-sugar/calorie artificial sweeteners", etc) Please avoid this !@#$%^&* otherwise you'll experience a lot of side effects and if you visit a doctor he'll probably diagnose it as some random disease. # Aspartame (nutrasweet) breaks down into methanol (wood alcohol). # Methanol quickly converts to formadehyde in the body. # Formaldehyde causes gradual and eventually severe damage to the neurological system, immune system and causes permanent genetic damage at extremely low doses. # Methanol from alcoholic beverages and from fruit and juices does not convert to formaldehyde and cause damage because there are protective chemicals in these traditionally ingested beverages. # The most recent independent research in Europe demonstrates that ingestion of small amounts of aspartame leads to the ac!@#$%^&*ulation of significant levels of formaldehyde (bound to protein) in organs (liver, kidneys, brain) and tissues. # Excitotoxic amino acids such as the one which is immediately released from aspartame likely increases the damage caused by the formaldehyde. info on it: http://www.mercola.com/article/aspartame/dangers.htm list of side effects: http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-side-effects.html Some chick fed her rats aspartame for two years and one of them developed a huge tumor:http://www.myaspartameexperiment.com/index.php Honestly, even if I hate you I still think you should avoid this ingredient or else it's going to !@#$%^&* you up in one way or another. »Purge Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 go to your doctor? plus, you should take in a lot of carbohydrates and protein if you are dieting like that. just because the food is low in calories doesn't mean it's always healthy for you. also, take multivitamins like Centrum and make sure you take Vitamin C naturally, like through fruits or drinks. I haven't been sick or had a bad cold in over a year now by following my own dietary plan, but controlled amounts of Vitamin C is always a good thing.
X`terrania Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 Who the !@#$%^&* said I'm dieting? Anyways, I went to my doctor awhile ago and he couldn't find any cause for it, and now that I've cut out aspartame all my issues are gone. I get all my vitamins and I'm fairly built, I just thought it'd be easier if I take in 0 calories/less sugar.
»Purge Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 sounded like a diet if you live an active life (I guess you don't). you should have said you went to the doctor and now you have no more symptoms beforehand.
X`terrania Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 Well, I said I feel more active and that I'm sleeping better - which is a start ;3 I am fairly active though, during the summer I managed to egg over forty-three houses in less than a few hours $ Gimme your address and I'll pay your house a visit pretttyyy soon!
Hakaku Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Well, aspartame isn't that far off MSG, so it's not all that big of a surprise.
rootbear75 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 aspartame is fine in moderation, like anything else you put in your body...
X`terrania Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) aspartame is fine in moderation, like anything else you put in your body... i think rootbear's a pretty cool guy, eh doesn't mind drinking something that has the capabilities of turning into formaldehyde and doesn't afraid of anything. Anyways, with the US over in the desert-lands they've been drinking a lot of diet sodas that have been sitting around in the sun all day, which is obv. bad cause methanol being brought to a certain temperature is extremely toxic. also dude, google aspartame and find out more about it Edited February 18, 2008 by X`terrania

X`terrania Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 certainly explains a lot it won't break down properly and aspartame is known for getting into your brain, try chewing aspartame gum and it'll travel right up there
Samapico Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 aspartame is fine in moderation, like anything else you put in your body...'fine' being the keyword... it's not 'good' in any way. But it's not 'dangerous' in small quan!@#$%^&*y.
Drake7707 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 maybe you're just mildly allergic to it ?
Samapico Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 list of side effects: http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-side-effects.htmlrofl... this lists pretty much EVERY bad feeling you can ever have... kind of a paranoid list imo. If you have nausea, could be aspartame, if you have diarrhea, could be aspartame, if you feel tired, could be aspartame, if you feel anything, could be aspartame...
X`terrania Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 I'm not mildly allergic to it. Results 1 - 10 of about 29,300 for aspartame poisoning. (0.06 seconds) There's thousands upon thousands of people having major withdrawal problems, but they're slowly feeling like themselves again. And there's also stories about family members getting really sick off of it - I believ'em. np inc
nikegurl637 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Aspartame is being widely debated in the nutritional field. Many researchers claim that is a carcinogen, but the FDA remains firm that there are no ill side effects. I had to write a huge paper about both sides of the topic last semester, and I concluded that there is more evidence out there that artificial sweeteners cause cancer. If you want to look up research, be sure to check real online databases (I like PubMed) - is where I found a lot of my evidence. Unfortunately there are few papers on the subject, some of them dating back to the '80s.
Audry Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Aspartame taste like !@#$%^&* anyway... i dont understand ppl who can drink/eat anything that has aspartame in it. And thats nothing new X'ter, make years ppl get sick from aspartame.
rootbear75 Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 going back to what i said earlier... only thing i drink/eat w/ aspartame is Diet Pepsi Max... and thats only so i can wake up...coffee just doesnt work for me
X`terrania Posted February 19, 2008 Author Report Posted February 19, 2008 Nice signature, !@#$%^&*got. do u honestly wanna test my intelligence? ill own the !@#$%^&* out of u.
»Purge Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 I personally do not favor caffeine/guarana or anything of that sort at all. To "wake up", I just take my normal share of antioxidants in the morning (tea, orange juice). the natural way feels much better in the end.

When I wake up I usually just walk around the house for a couple minutes and I'm good to go. Not sure how OJ wakes you up though.
Dav Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 aspartame has been linked to quite a few things, its not exactly a brill chemical to be using in food. Small amounts of it will be ok, your body will be able to get rid of it before it gets to a toxic concentration. Trouble is it is everywhere, so many people demand zero sugar products now that compaines just have to add it.

It contains lots of other good stuff too though. drinking tea is good for you
Deathmonger Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Try stevia as a natural sugar subs!@#$%^&*ute. The aspartame people have successfully blocked the FDA from approving it as a 'food', but you can get it as a 'flavoring' from most health food stores.
