Good to see someones gonna do something about the !@#$%^&* that's been going on.

PS: Some people won't give up at a IP ban or the such. There are many ways to avoid them but I will not list any.

Could just limit new forum members to admin activation.

We did it on the MG forums, and problem solved. Mind you it can be alot of work. Set admin validations on, then designate 1-2 admins to recieve ?message's from in-game accounts to verify. This way if someone screws up, they are liable both in-game and on the forums smile.gif ooo endless possibilities for bans.

Plus, considering how localised of a population we have. I wouldn't put it past polix to block out connection attempts from a hub near your location, or infact, a city. God knows SVS banned both the sympatico, and rogers IP-Range...

Well - I'm going to guess that the bans won't be bound to any specific zone - so they will have to be Net bans. So, therefore, the forum Admins will have to execute Net bans to everybody who flames... :S My point is, net bans for flaming people on forums? Maybe that's a little too effective, possibly a better idea would be if all of the zone owners got together, and each time a player is added to forum ban - they can also be added to a zone silence via the bot. From what i've seen, nearly every SSC zone owner is partially active on these forums, so it would be just as effective to stop people from flaming. Either this, or something like this, so we're not adding to the already far to long net ban list.

I think it would be taken too far if it went out to actual in-game banning, whether it be network wide or zone wide.

I think the current setup that Polix has is just fine. Moderators should have a job to do -- that's their purpose, aight? People aren't SPAM or Porn bots, so it makes it a little bit more unnecessary to require activation by admin. And besides, how would they know who is and isn't a flamer?

EDIT :: As far as zone owners and zone wide BanG operators, they can ban whomever they want as they please. What I meant was that the moderators and administrators (or staff) of these forums should have nothing to do with in-game zone or network wide banning. It is up to the zone staff to ban known flamers at their discretion.

Something that can be done is that there will be a list of all those flamers and whatever. Zone owner will have the ability to see whos on that list and it will be up to them to ban/silence or do whatever they want in their zone if they choose to.

Never said these bans would carry into ss, whoever said that needs to re-read what I said, k, thnx.

Back into the subject. I haven't had to ban anyone yet, but also, nice thing, noone has been acting up lately.

Kn|ght> The lot Of you are pissing me off. Continue your charades, and you will lose you're speaking rights. I may extend this to a forum, as well, as an in-game ban.
