PoLiX Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Both, read: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=18832
Aileron Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Its not an "or", it's an "and". Colonies are sub-accounts which are hosted by SS Forum, lacking several features necessary for growth so that the player can only sustain one by transferring stuff out of his SS RPG account. It isn't described in the tutorial because its still experimental. The good thing about it is that its solves the SS RPG's biggest problem: small player base. In a virtual fashion it doubles the player base. The bad thing about it is here we are going to install Army Core 3 in all of its awesomeness and if this is done the wrong way the game might very well be decided on the Army Core 1 end of things. Hypothetically I might be able to use Core 2 for Colonies, but then the game becomes too complicated.
The Real Picard Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 LOVE RPG - HATE COLONIES Would leave if RPG dies out. IHMO. "Ban the Colonies"
Falcoknight Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 I wish we had had the colonies sooner.Making over 2.5bil a day makes me happy in my pants.
Aileron Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I'm beginning to agree with Picard in terms of how Colonies is working out. I wanted to make investing in a colony dangerous, so dangerous that if you didn't know what you were doing you would hurt yourself by starting the colony. As it turns out colonies are safe income. My prediction was that there was no reason a non-colony player couldn't check out the colony rankings, observe a target with a lot of greens out, suddenly build a colony, transfer just enough material to hit the target, and then extract everything. I thought that Colonies would be dominated by a group of 'shadow offenses'. To my surprise I don't see it happening. What isn't surprising is that the first attempt wasn't perfect. Now the debate is whether to attempt to fix it or abandon it. First off I think double income is too much. Secondly I think Thors should be cheaper.
Sound Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 ^Falco making 2.5bill a day definitely does not make me happy in MY pants.
Aileron Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 Actually, I forgot to mention two things about Colonies. There isn't an army size factor to attacks, and there isn't a limit to the number of attacks that can be done on a target in one day. While I'm not against getting rid of Colonies next round, if you guys want to solve Sound's problem in the meantime, one merely has to solve the word puzzle below and execute it: (Quan!@#$%^&*y measured by kilograms) (Species of Predatory Bird) (Medieval calvary soldier)
Falcoknight Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 It's not as if I'm doing anything useful with the money =PSince Ail made it clear it's impossible for Gods to win, I sold all my crap and bought a few million more mercs. Now I have some more items, but I may sell them for more mercs as well.I just want to see how big I can get my army =o
