Shia' Tan Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 I'm trying to set up a zone for my own use in testing some things. I basicly have no experience in this kind of thing. Anyway, point in fact, I set it up according to the help file by Mine GO BOOM, but when i try to find it in the zone listing in Continuum, its not there. I'm probably showing my ignorance here, but does anyone know what my problem is? I tried setting Directory:IP in server.ini to Server.initosscentral.subspace.inet.fi,sscentral.ds98.com,ssentral.subspacehq.com,sscentral.subspace.netbut it dosnt seem to have worked. If someone could help me I would greatly aprecciate it. thanks. IN HYPERSPACE, WE CARE!! Deathmonger> every man wants a girl with three breastsBloodVenom> O_o Cerium: more grinding = more gooder
★ Purge Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 please post your server.ini and subbill.ini and blot out the passwords so we may see what is exactly wrong with your setup. as for your directory problem, the [Directory] port should always be 4991 (do not change it).
Shia' Tan Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 Ok, heres a plain text version of my subbill.ini and server.ini Server.txtSubbill.txt IN HYPERSPACE, WE CARE!! Deathmonger> every man wants a girl with three breastsBloodVenom> O_o Cerium: more grinding = more gooder
★ Purge Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 set your [billing] IP=localhost, not 127.0.0.1. for [Misc] ServerIP=, set to the IP you see from whatsmyip.org. also, if you are on a router, you must forward port 9500 (as you have it) to 9501 under UDP protocol. I'm not sure this will solve your directory problem, but try placing the Continuum .40 EXE into the version1 folder of your subgame folder.
Shia' Tan Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 (edited) Ok, I did that, but its still not working What do you mean, put Continuum 0.40 EXE in version1 folder? Is that just the Continuum startup, or is it a file? I didnt see a Continuum 0.40 EXE in my folder anywhere. Thanks alot for your help tho Edit: Oh cool, I tried adding my zone using Add Custom in the zone listing and using the IP you recomended from whatsmyip.com and it worked! I can log in now! thanks alot for your help purge Now i just need to figure out how to configure sets... Edited January 11, 2008 by Shia' Tan IN HYPERSPACE, WE CARE!! 🜲 PoLiX Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 [Directory]IP=sscentral.subspace.inet.fi,sscentral.ds98.com,sscentral.sbspacehq.com,sscentral.subspace.net All 4 of those domains no longer belong to the subspace community. [Directory]IP=sscentral.sscuservers.net,sscentral.trenchwars.org,ssdir.laysubspace.com Try that. rootbear75 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 (edited) [Directory]IP=sscentral.sscuservers.net,sscentral.trenchwars.org,ssdir.playsubspace.comfixed a typo... ★ Purge Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 while logged in your zone as sysop, hit Esc + C to check out the settings you can edit. there are a bunch of files you can play around and learn from on SSDownloads.com, too.

Arry Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 If you don't want people to have to update their zone list every time your IP changes then you can setup dynamic DNS with dyndns.org (It's free). You pick a hostname, download the software app that keeps your IP updated. and then put ss://hostname.whatever.com in the description of your zone. (Look at my zone, SS Scrabble). This makes it easier for people to consistently get to your zone even when the IP changes - they won't have to refresh the zone list. There's a wreckage, There's a fire, There's a weakness, In my loveThere's a hunger, I can't control.Hallelujah, death is overcome and we are breathing.Hallelujah, our stone hearts become flesh that's beating.Hallelujah, chains have been undone and we are singing.Hallelujah, the fire has begun, can u feel it
🜲 Samapico Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 I don't think you can add domain names in your zone lists... It only works with IPs. So they won't have to refresh the zone list, but they'll have to resolve the domain name to get the IP anyway, or something. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/88/Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg/120px-Half-Life_Black_Mesa_logo.svg.pngDCME co-developerSSCU 17th Parallel sysop
★ Purge Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Arry meant including the domain name in the zone description, as many others zones already do. but that isn't really necessary unless you have a dynamic IP host and you need a static IP so your zone won't keep losing its connection.
