Last time I checked the mindset of an athlete is to play at 100%, 100% of the time. If you're an athlete getting paid millions of dollars to play a child's game, I !@#$%^&* well expect you to be playing your hardest for that money, and not to have the coach decide the team can ease up just because they're dominating. !@#$%^&*, maybe it's just because I've always been raised around the philosophy that in any serious compe!@#$%^&*ion the "No Mercy Rule" is always in effect. Even in high school sports the philosophy is "Go balls to the wall or don't go at all."(This is track, but the example is still relevant) Men - Team Rankings - 21 Events Scored============================================================================== 1) LEWISTON HIGH SCHOOL 249.50 2) Mt. Ararat High School 152 3) Winslow High School 103 4) Erskine Academy 46 5) MORSE HIGH SCHOOL 34 6) Boothbay Region High Scho 12.50 That's a meet from last season, and I'm the Lewiston track team. As you can see from the scores, we absolutely raped the other 5 teams at the meet up the !@#$%^&*, but do you think we went into that meet saying "Put in some decent effort, but these teams are nothing to us, so just relax"? No, our coach told us to go out there and destroy everyone, he told us he wanted us to be the first track team he coaches to put 250 points on the board, and we went out and did just that. And after that, I don't remember anyone from any other team, or supporters of any other team say "Jeez, Lewiston has no class, they went out and stomped those other teams instead of just winning and calling it a day." So why am I hearing that crap from people about professional FOOTBALL?! A team that plans on winning, and will do whatever it takes to do so and at the same time send the message that they're the best and they're coming to massacre you, and if the other team doesn't have the same goal, then it's their own fault that they lose by ridiculous scores like 52-7.

Not the players' fault, I know.. but this season will forever be tainted with an asterisk.

They had the game in hand, no sense in trying to make the other team look bad. Just like how Brian Westbrook fell on the 1 yard line so time would run out. He could have just scored but he didn't.

The other team tied 3-3, and won in overtime/shootout. So yeah, they get paid to play a game from beginning to the end, they can't just slack off. Plus, good stats give players more value, so you want to score everything you can

PoLiX Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 The thing is, everytime the Pats went against a decent team, or even a team just barely rallying together, it was a VERY close game. So once they go head to head with a team who want to win more than they do, I think it is going to be an interesting game. I think the Pack would beat em in a superbowl. I'd love to see my home team go again (Seahawks), but I think the Packers are more deserving than any other team in the NFC right now. And what Favre has to play for is going to give him more motivation than anyone else.

There was still around 2 minutes left on the clock. His little maneuver on the 1 yard line was perfect to allow the Eagles to retain possession and take a knee a couple of times, thus running out the clock. If he had just scored, there would have been a slim chance of the Cowboys scoring, doing an onside kick, and scoring again. As for the Patriots, it's not so much the team I hate, but the fans.
