Can Point Defense's sound be turned off by a user msg. Ever since i first got it today, the constant sound is making me want to kill myself. (to pd) /?soundoff or ?soundon??????????????????

I play Continuum with my speakers off...

That command's in the F1 Help file as well. But doesn't that turn off all sounds (not just PD's sound)? I think eleven there was looking for a way to selectively mute only PD's sounds... (which as far as I know isn't possible, but I could be wrong)...

You could replace the level 4 gun sound with an empty sound file. Other than that, there's nothing you can do.

Yea either you replace the sound file, ?sound=0 or go to the option/settings and turn off the sound engine which I do.

or u can use a complicated way to ONLY turn off pd sound... go to

 

"my computers", then

"local disk c" (unless it's another drive, just go main drive.) then,

"program files" then,

"continuum" then,

open the folder "sound" then,

find a file that says "gun4.wa2"

deleate that and ONLY point defence wont be heard, everything else will

Yeah, but make a backup copy of the sound, just copy/paste it somewhere else, unless you want to reinstall continuum next time you want to hear L4 bullets...

 

I just went into my sounds and opened gun4 in Sound Recorder, told it to Decrease Volume a coupla times, and now it's not annoying. Better than not having the sound at all, IMO

i deleted the file. i can get another one any time i feel like pulling my hair out. I might replace it with a better sound when i have time.

Not sure if you got my file or not, but I have a really cool sounding laser sound file that I sent out to a few people. It works great, not annoying, and sounds kinda cool

I dno... It would kinda seem weird. I mean I play ss a lot and sometimes I don't even pay attention, so when I hear l4 guns coming up I might think its somebody using l3 guns and I would take different action, or I wouldn't know what ship it is.
