Subspace recently mentioned on xboxic

Just browsing and came across this article that mentioned subspace. Nothing major about it, but subspace did work its way into the article

 

"Gamespot is reporting that Shred Nebula, the first project from newly founded indie developer CrunchTime Games will be available on Xbox Live Arcade in gearly 2008 for the princely sum of 800 MS Points.

 

CrunchTime head James Goddard refers to Shred Nebula as being something of a mash up between arcade classic Asteroids and the cult favourite multiplayer shooter SubSpace. The game will have 20 ships, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, working on a rock-paper-scissors type system. The game will have 40 maps, but CrunchTime isn't ready to spill details on the game's modes just yet.

and the only problem with actually getting subspace on there, is the chat system.

i mean, you saw that the other guy got it on his PSP... if you can do that, then you should be able to get it on your xbox

all you would need is a well thought out set of keydefs. without a keyboard you wont be able to chat but you could easily control the ship

You can just get the little keyboard attachment for the control on the xbox 360.

Some people like to form analogy to SubSpace on many things (much of it thanks to newbie zones), however, there are many hidden principles at the core of SubSpace which made it what it was and they are unable to grasp these design lines.

Failing at that, the result is nothing alike, similar or familiar.

 

Tossing a bunch of ships-esque gfx on your screen from top down is not SubSpace.

That'd be akin to calling any movie with a robot totting guns in it a Terminator.

 

 

Going onto further scrutiny, this guy (Jeff Goddard) had worked on some few !@#$%^&*ty games (your usual TV/movie license POSers) that no one cared for and this mentioning of SubSpace is obviously a poor man's attempt at trying to draw in an already established crowd to his game.

I seriously don't see the idea here; certainly, there'll always be suckers to be found around but how are you expecting a game which fanbase is PC and the game is free to pay for a console game? Just doesn't add up.

What kind of niche fanbase are they hoping and opting to capture here? Maybe the xbox arcade losers, IDK how many of these there are.

Eitherway, a total complete POS and from the actual game's descriptions this isn't anywhere near SubSpace.

Well, maybe it's like EG or T3G or something, but definitely not good SVS or anything half decent, !@#$%^&* even EG would be better (well, the 98' EG).
