tiss61 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 i think we should have a new category called "special items" cause sometimes like turret base. it's an alien tech, but sometimes i like to have ad AND alien tech at the same time, same with field launchers. so we should take these LITTLE items away from alien technology category. i see myself always wishing i can field in lanc, but i cant because if my antideath in the way. but a lanc is also almost newby without antideath. by newby i mean by weak. so yea, we should make a new category. maybe put summoner, field launcher, turret base, etc. in the category Quote

Can you imagine if a ship rockets past you and dies, respawns in the middle of your team and drops a lighting field? That idea is all bad. One alien tech per ship is on purpose, as it would become way too overpowering to have both. Quote

Boldot is quite correct; having Antideath in addition to Field Launcher would be insanely unbalanced. As for Turret Base, well, you'd only use that item to be a, well, turret base in the center area, where Antideath would be all but completely useless and a waste of money anyhow. Since it would be almost guaranteed instant death to enter any sort of base or confined region with Turret Base on your ship. Also, note that Summoner is not an Alien Technology item; Summoner is in the FTL Engines category, so you can have Summoner and an Alien Technology item; for example, most Lancasters today have Summoner and Antideath simultaneously. So I really don't see the need for 2 Alien Technology items per ship. Quote

But yes, a Lancaster - or any ship for that matter - with two forms of FTL would be overpowered. Quote
