that's not the PS4... that's the PSX (not to be confused with PS1, also called PSX now). I think it's an abandoned project and was supposed to be a compe!@#$%^&*or for XBOX along with the PS2 a while ago.

I heard if you buy a 40gb model today you can't play ps2 or psx games on it since they took some hardware out to make it cheaper to produce.

I play all my ps2 game on it...where did you hear this?

When Sony released the PS3 in the UK they stopped producing units with the Emotion Engine chip (the thing that runs PS2 games). They've moved on to software emulation, ala 360. Naturally there are issues with it at first, but they're (slowly) working on correcting them. If I remember correctly, once they reach their goal on the software emulation compatibility, the EE chip will be disabled via software update and everyone's PS3s will be running in emulation mode.

Xbox has been out for nearly two years and isn't close to having its complete library emulated. I doubt Sony will either.

Probably not. They'll probably do exactly what MS is doing: working on the games with the most popularity and issues. If you're the only one having trouble playing "Big Mother Trucker", they probably won't give a !@#$%^&* if it works well or not.

The article I read made it sound like all European ps3's didn't have the EE (regardless of disk size), and the 40gb model didn't have the emulation software (or had it disabled, since I would think Sony distributes 1 firmware for all models).

I heard that too, makes no difference to me as I don't have a PS2 anyway.

What I want to know is will old guncon 1 and 2 games work with the guncon3 controller? Since the ps3 has a harddisk and there aren't many guncon games, they could put something on it to patch the games as they load. This would be a good idea since less and less people have CRT TVs and the old games are still fun to play. Edited by Smong
