I agree with Neptune171. The new Transwarp is very cool and Uber - thanks muchly to Aquarius for the l33t graphix and to you, Dr Brain, for the ?tw programming. smile.gif

 

However... with no intention to offend, I wanted to let you know that there are a few issues to work out with it (which you might already know)...

  • Flag-carriers should not be able to ?tw. Additionally, if there is a Lancaster sitting in the Hub and a flag-carrier F7-attaches to the Lancaster (hence cir!@#$%^&*venting the disabled ?tw command for a flag-carrier), the flag-carrying ship should be killed by upon entering the Hub. (Otherwise, incredible lameness could result... such as staying and winning the game in the Hub's safe.) (I presume summoning still does not work in the Hub.)
  • Maybe an actual safe zone should be set in the Hub, to prevent people from using special items such as fields, brick attacks, or point defense to kill while in the Hub.
  • An actual safe zone would also prevent people from preserving bounty while sitting in the Hub safe (which is actually 'pseudo-safe' atm and supposed to be 'completely safe' according to Rareitanium.)
  • It should be made so it is impossible to warp out from inside the Hub, just like one cannot ?id or ?jump from inside the Hub.

new tw= same thing as having a summon lanc on ur team..... its just ?tw and ur safe, wait till u got full nrg, and go out again... VERY easy to abuse and gb got a 230 bty after ?twing about 40-50 times. u should need like >50% of ur hp(or over 700 since u cant do %) to tw, then you dont have ppl ?tw ing to safety every time they nearly die. also, it would stop things like aqua's turret today where it would apear, a few nukes would fire out, and it would go back to tw.

I think that's actually the point of Transwarp and its main advantage over ID Drives - namely, being able to ?tw safely at low energy. (The other advantages of ?tw as opposed to ?id are much slighter and do not, in my opinion, justify a price tag over 6 times that of ID Drives.)

 

However, I do agree with Zephoid b that persons possessing a TW P!@#$%^&* can use it in an incredibly lame manner as he has described. I think one way of solving the problem is to introduce a slight delay - maybe a twcool of 3000 - so that people can't 'TW bunny' rapidly and consecutively like Aquarius and got bounty? did. If a significant twcool time is not introduced, persons possessing a TW P!@#$%^&* can basically spam ?tw and can become basically invulnerable while centering. (Especially since one can ?tw from ANYWHERE in center...)

 

To head off a potential counter-argument, ?tw without a delay is not 'analogous to having a summon lanc on ur team' at all, because summon lancs are large, relatively slow-moving, and very killable ships with a definite, easily determined location (you can only get summoned to the lanc's position, and not to anywhere in center or into another sector even). ?tw generates exit vectors randomly and there is no 'summon lanc' to kill to block that route of retreat. Furthermore, while a summon lanc is not always reliable or instantaneous (especially if the summon lanc is turreting and other people are spamming the summoner) and not always completely safe (the summon lanc can be near death when you get on it, whereupon you could lose your bounty), ?tw is completely reliable, instantaneous, and risk-free. To summarize, summon lancs are not lame, but ?tw can be.

 

Hence, in closing, I respectfully submit that adding a short, but significant, time delay (maybe 3000?) will reduce overly lame 'TW bunny' behaviors with TW P!@#$%^&* while preserving one of the chief advantages of ?tw (i.e. being able to use it safely at low energy) over ?id.

An additional comment about TW, but unrelated to my post immediately above:

 

Would it be possible to make it so that ships attached to a Lancaster do not get deducted TW Tokens for transiting through the Hub if their Lancaster uses TW? To be specific, my Spider was equipped with 3 TW Tokens earlier when I became a turret on Aquarius' Lancaster (which had a TW P!@#$%^&*). Each time Aquarius used ?tw and returned to center, I was deducted a TW Token (even though I remained attached to Aquarius the entire time). After Aquarius used TW 3 times, I had no tokens left and there was $3000 down the drain. However, afterwards, even though I had no tokens, as long as I remained attached to Aquarius, I could still transit through the Hub with Aquarius. Hence, it seems to make no sense to deduct tokens for each TW journey from ships (turrets) that are attached to a Lancaster, since ships without tokens can go through TW for free while attached to a Lancaster that is transiting TW.

 

Would it be possible to modify this? Thanks in advance!

Zephiod you have the wrong person. I did not get 230 bounty yesterday from using that lame glitch. I hold myself higher than that. :/

 

You may have me confused for the turret which got ~500 bounty each turret and had to be cobalted in order to kill it.

 

Also ?tw throws out all the fun in reccing.

I don't think he was necessarily talking about that "lame glitch" - but about 'legit' "TW bunnying" with TW P!@#$%^&* holders, such as, notably, Aquarius' turretting/centering Lancaster. I could be wrong though.

I suppose it can be used that way, but ?tw does need to have some significant advantage over ?id to make TW P!@#$%^&* worth $1,000,000 (as opposed to ID Drives' $150,000). And introducing something like a twcool might help reduce the laming potential of having a TW pass

btw, there is like 2 seconds after using tw(until the green hole disspears almost) that tw wont work

 

It's exactly 1 second, and is there to prevent TW from taking multiple tokens if you're lagging a bit.

Okyo and mat cauthon are the ones abusing it with tw passes or a huge ammount of tokens. Okyo got like 400+ bty and mat cauthon is btying right now with over 600 bty, ?tw ing whenever they are about to die.

 

 

edit2: srry, he actually has over 1.1k bty...and ?tw s about every 5 seconds

i dont think there is nything wrong with using tw to bounty... they paid 1 mil to buy it... they should be able to bty if they want to...

 

also... an engine failure would be nice for tw... so people dont use it to run win... and i think camping inside tw to kill people as they come in is not allowed anyway blum.gif

Speaking of confusion I think you have me confused with MGS. :angry:

 

Anyway, although the new tw is unbalancing enough, creating all these special rules to protect people in the tw seems way over the top. Why should they be invulnerable in tw? Heck there ought to be gun ports in the walls so people can shoot into it to try to balance it out a little bit. I'd suggest also putting a delay into the tw action itself to reduce its effectiveness in escaping.

um... when u can get 2k bty, thats around 200k... 3k bty and ur looking at probably over 1m. overkill? plus this will just bring up vet dominance again.... and we know what...... FUN....... that was

 

 

i think 2 things should b done, one, tw decreases ur bty, two, put a 15-30 sec recharge time on tw... therefore u can tw bunny, but u ppl have a chance to kill u

I don't really think that's so much of a good idea, because that would negate the major reason for investing $1,000,000 in buying a TW P!@#$%^&* (money which is irrecoverable btw since the sell price of TW P!@#$%^&* is $1).
