New Continuum Zone

Hi,

I'm just wondering what I'd have to do to go about getting a zone connected to the master billing server?

I've hosted small zones for a few friends before but I have a dedicated server that is only hosting a few small websites and I'd like to make a continuum zone. (As a side note if anyone is interested in having their own server but can't afford hosting why not work with me on a new zone :() I have a bit of a unique theme for the zone in mind but I'd only consider putting in the development time if it'd actually get used and that means being on the main billing server.

The dedicated server is on a 10mbps symmetrical line plugged directly into Pipex and stored in a UK data centre... this isn't some silly "yo I gotz a celeronz and wanna host me server" question :(

It's generally said that to get your zone connected to the SSC biller you must have a constant population at all times. The REAL way you get your zone connected to the biller is to kiss !@#$%^&* of those who run the ssc hosting servers (or, unless you actually have an original idea that's good and you can sell to a host).

I have an SSCI slot that i havent had a need to use for a bit. i can see if D+ will host you.

and if we got that zone on the server, all files would be transferred from your computer, to the master server.

there is only ONE exception to that, which is T3G

Thank you for the responses guys smile.gif

Rootbear, are you saying that once I get a zone running I would not be able to host it on my dedicated server? That'd be fine but I thought it'd be a nice idea to have a zone physically in Europe so the Europeans can have a low ping for a change ;)

I think I'll make a start on the zone settings & things.

your basically asking for the SSC biller, which is 99.999999999999999999999% chance of not happening

the only way to get your zone on SSC is to get one of the SSC netops to host your zone

meh SSC is overrated blum.gif

It's not overrated. If it weren't for SSC there wouldn't be an SS anymore. Players wouldn't play if there was no central community.

If it wasn't for a central player server yes smile.gif However my statement still stands, SSC is overrated.

When's the last time any kind of update was done to the biller?

Seriously, what's the contact info for these netops? Do they have a standard application process? Do they read these forums?

It seems that there's a catch 22 here. It's hard to get pop without being connected to the central community (everyone wants their chats). Yet at the same time, we're told you need a good population to prove your zone is something people want to play. Can anyone who's gone from ground up tell us HOW you got your zone to be part of SSC? It seems like a necessary step for any serious zone.

Its not a "netop" you need to contact. It is a Server Host that has access to the SSC Biller that you need to contact.

And it is a necessary step for any serious zone. You will get ppl that say "ssc is overrated", "ssc sucks" etc...which some people feel that way and that is their opioion.

But just download your zone list and look at the population of any Non SSC zone tonight and you can see for yourself how necessary it is. Yes maybe 3 years ago a zone could get 30 players without SSC, but that doesn't happen anymore.
