Samapico Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 I must be the lucky 1 000 000th person to update java or something, it offered me free OpenOffice WOWOWOWOWOWOW WOMGOMGOMG
Drake7707 Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Quick hide it, don't advertise for openoffice, your hurting microsoft > ....
»Maverick Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Everybody gets that (duh!) Anyway, I dislike the way it's being brought to users. Java should stay trustworthy and should not announce cheap lines like this and this "for free!" like they are trying to make you buy.
L.C. Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Just personally, I think Office 2007 > Open Office. But that's my opinion. I've Open Office before (as my cousins have it, and Ubuntu comes with it). Far from liking Open Office.
rootbear75 Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 i only used it when Office became corrupted on my hard drive (after a factory restore, keeping all applications)i couldnt find my CDs to reinstall it so i used open office. Java and OpenOffice are both made by Sun Microsystems.... what do you expect?
Samapico Posted October 23, 2007 Author Report Posted October 23, 2007 Office 2003 > OpenOffice...Office 2007 > Office 2003 I used OpenOffice once... and I couldn't do what I wanted to do so I scrapped it.
rootbear75 Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 it took a while to get used to 07... i was lost without my menus... i dont like the tabs that they have now now if they have the tabs AND kept the menus, i would be a lot happier
Samapico Posted October 23, 2007 Author Report Posted October 23, 2007 tabs are so !@#$%^&* easy to work with once you get used to them... it seems that everything is where you want it to be once you understand the logic. If you think about it, older versions' menus weren't very intuitive, you knew where everything was because you were used to it
JDS Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 i would not update because i do not want open office, word editing other than notepad is 4 chumbs
rootbear75 Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 i would not update because i do not want open office, word editing other than notepad is 4 chumbsif you use java applets on the web often enough, your going to have to download it regardlessalthough, there is a version that doesnt come with open office... just look at java.sun.com
JDS Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 perhaps its only for vista, as i am upto date and never ran into that problem
Samapico Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 Well when I clicked to update it said something like: If you want openoffice for free, click on 'more information' and I didn't. And I updated. Who moved this to general? I made the topic in spam cause it was worthless, but it's apparently more interesting than I thought
Smong Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 You should update java anyway, there was a recent vulnerability.

Hakaku Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 wtf office pro 2007 is like 700$CA here
»Blocks Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 (edited) At least in the US, Office 2007 Ultimate is available to college students at http://www.theultimatesteal.com for only $60. Edited October 25, 2007 by Blocks
Drake7707 Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 i believe i can download it for free using the license of my college. But then again 'license' usually means included crack rofl, they should call it warez. instead of softin.
Hakaku Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 64$ definitely beats outrageous prices; but can you use the activation code more than once?
Dav Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 At least in the US, Office 2007 Ultimate is available to college students at http://www.theultimatesteal.com for only $60.that's where I got mine from, awesome price! Only annoying thing is they rearranged all the menus so it takes a while to find everything again.
