»Ducky Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Need I say more really? Whether a political stunt or not, he's attempting to get his name on the South Carolina ballot under both parties. This would not be the first time in history a comedian has attempted this. Thoughts on the matter? Is the distraction worth it?
Sigition Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 colbert is cool but idk, i think hes gone too far
»1587200 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 My vote's for Colbert. Sigition, please remove that hideous image from your sig. It's too large.
masscarnage Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 sadly he would probably do better than most candidates
rootbear75 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 ahem.. anyone watched Man of the Year?
NBVegita Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 It really is a joke. Just another joke from someone who has writers do all of his political humor. I wouldn't ever take a comedian seriously as a candidate, namely because all of their information is gathered for them for hours by teams of people and they just read que cards. And if you really watch thier shows, most of the information is biast and not terribly credible. At least politicians have to know something, if not much.
SeVeR Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 namely because all of their information is gathered for them for hours by teams of people and they just read que cards. just comedians?
NBVegita Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 At least politicians have to know something, if not much. At least most politicians are lawers or have some experience in law and governing.
»Ducky Posted October 18, 2007 Author Report Posted October 18, 2007 I'm not a John Stewart fanboy, but are you suggesting he doesn't know what he's talking about? I think he does fairly well in regular debates. There's a reason that these kind of people are political satire infused and not generally comedians in other aspects. When have we ever seen Colbert or Stewart in a real comedy where they made the show/movie.
NBVegita Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 They have political views like all of us, but basically they are media bred comedians. Just the sheer fact that he wants to run for both parties simultaneously is rediculous enough.
AstroProdigy Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Heaven forbid someone doesn't define themselves as one or the other.
NBVegita Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 The reason why its a joke is because by the standards set by both the democratic and republican party, you cannot be supporting a party outside of the one you're running in. Running as both a democrat and republican completely contradicts itself. You can't just up and decide to run for president, in order to run in either the democratic or republican primaries, you must have their approval. He should have run independent if he didn't want an affiliation.
AstroProdigy Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 (edited) So? Ever heard of publicity stunts? Rudy Guliani did it on 9/11 why can't Stephen Colbert? Edited October 19, 2007 by AstroProdigy
NBVegita Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 It's a terrible ploy at trying to immitate "Man of the Year". He knows !@#$%^&* would freeze over first.
AstroProdigy Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Guliani getting "Man of the Year" for his photo ops is the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. I actually think Bush is better than Guliani because I actually believe he is sincere about his social convictions.

rootbear75 Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 lol as was I.i dont think he knew what we were talking about lol
Tiq Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I think you guys are taking this way too seriously. There is a ready why he is on Comedy Central. It's all in good fun. Don't ruin it with overanalysis and pompous at!@#$%^&*udes. You can't just up and decide to run for president, in order to run in either the democratic or republican primaries, you must have their approval. Isn't that part of what makes America a land of opportunity? The fact that any jack!@#$%^&* over 35 can technically run for president? I think the U.S. is one of the few nations in the world where you CAN just up and run for president. Doesn't mean you will win, but you can still do it.
