I'm getting a new computer in a few days, so I will be installing Continuum onto that computer. However, I have a lot of names on this computer with varying passwords. I have too so many names that it would take too long for me to simply add them one by one if I were to download Continuum fresh. Also, my passwords vary, and I share names with a few people, so I can't change those passwords.

Is there anyway I can transfer the entire Continuum file to my new computer?

Any possibilities are accepted and appreciated!!

Thanks

You should save your profile.dat, keys.dat and zone.dat files, and just replace them on your new computer after the installation.

However, your passwords will probably not work with just that... The simplest is if you remember your passwords, note them...

The best way, however, would be to export the part of the registry containing the passwords (encoded), and re-import it on your new computer after the installation.

To do this:

-Start menu, Run...

-Type "regedit" without quotes to open the registry editor

-Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Continuum and expand that folder

-Right-click on the "passwords" folder, and choose Export to save a *.reg file containing the needed data

-On your new computer, after you installed Continuum, put that file somewhere and double-click it to add the information in that computer's registry

And that should work smile.gif

Unless there's something I don't know about the way passwords are encrypted (i.e. if the key changes on each machine?) but I don't think so...

yeah, but passwords aren't kept in profile.dat, they're in the registry. Since your .40 installation was on the same computer, it still read the passwords from registry, but he's installing it on a different computer so...

Samapico, first off, thanks for the help.

Second, when I get to the passwords folder after following your steps, there is no option for me to export. The only things that show up when I right click on the password folder are "New," "Find..." "Delete," "Rename," "Copy Key Name"

^ From the "New" folder, I can then click on "Key," "String Value," "Binary Value," "DWORD Value". There is also the option of "Expand," but it's not click-able.

There is no "File" option when I right click it. Or am I doing something wrong? Sorry, I'm bad with computers.

He means select it, then go in the File menu at the top

There you should find the Export command
