tcsoccer and neptune Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Can I please have my 30k back after the server crashed. I lost it and I know I had it because I was checking my money constantly to see if I had enough for a lanc with antimatter. Another way I know is becasue I recently sold my slipstream and I had 49k before I sold it, now I have 49k again (but no slipstream). So once again, can I PLEASE have it back? Quote
tcsoccer and neptune Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 gah, please answer! Quote
Dr Brain Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Zone saves everything at *least* every 5 minutes. If you lost something in that short a period of time, you can just earn it back. Quote
tcsoccer and neptune Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) that makes sense, cuz I had recently sold my slipstream jacla;kjciodwala;kjcsniaclsqdjaieod;nlakjdcianioean'ajoidna2asdfasceacdsacedsacdsacdsacdsacdsacadcacdasccdadfsacdsacjdklsjackn sai;csnkai;jc mlnda il;naklsein; lksjadicenkal;jceia;nsklsadjiec;nlsjdcie;anlcsdajck l GAH And if someone loses that much money because of a server flaw... That is re!@#$%^&*ed. something should be fixed, what if they had recently sold something that goes for a really high price but the server crashes again...and no i can't just earn it back in 2 seconds, as fast as i lost it.....and neiter should i "have" to earn it back because of someone elses mistake. JDS Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 itsa a dying argument, neptune. For all we know you could be lying Quote
tcsoccer and neptune Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) true, but theres some witnesses about me talking about me selling my slipstream right before the server crash...if they'd post.. Oh yea, and ask blue, I kept annoying him by asking Neptune171>is slipstream good for warbird? but he didnn't answer so i sold it :/and 30k is obviously a lot of money to me, if it wasn't i wouldn't be arguing about it. PS: JD, if I was lying, I would obviously say something like "i lost 100k after i sold my point defense" Not 30k Edited October 13, 2007 by neptune171 Quote
got bounty? Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Lol, just give up. No-one is doubting you, but even still you can't hand out money to players who claim they lost money over a crash. It sets a precedent for further cases. Additionally, we can't tell to honest players to the manipulative ones. Quote
James1293 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 we can't tell to honest players to the manipulative ones. Its called "keeping a good reputation of not lying." I haven't lied ever since like .... 5 years ago. that should give me *some* credibility... what about neptune? does he have no credibility? >_> Quote
Aceflyer Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 we can't tell to honest players to the manipulative ones. Its called "keeping a good reputation of not lying." I haven't lied ever since like .... 5 years ago. that should give me *some* credibility... what about neptune? does he have no credibility? >_> I can see both sides of the argument here. On the one hand, (nearly) anyone would be upset if they lost $30k over a server error. On the other hand, just believing claims like these without any sort of indisputable, non-cir!@#$%^&*stantial evidence would obviously, as people have pointed out, set a bad precedent, as it would allow people to lie about 'losing money' all the time to 'gain' money this way. I think that in this case, neptune171 is just going to have to swallow the loss, barring any additional evidence we haven't seen yet. In the future, perhaps we could advise people paranoid about losing money to take screenshots when they make 'big' transactions like these? Would a screenshot be considered acceptable evidence of a transaction actually having taken place? Quote
Dr Brain Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Rather than taking a screen shot, just leave and reenter the zone. That forces the zone to write all your information to disk. These types of errors are pretty rare though. On the whole, the database has performed extremely well under difficult conditions. Quote

I'll keep that in mind in the future in case I sell expensive items. Quote
