hehe

spread the good news :(

the walltiles work for now, but eventually they'll work even better... like if you erase one, others around it should adjust themselves

(Though I just thought that might get annoying sometimes, cause if you want a wall section to end abruptly, you couldn't... hmm)

Not to disappoint you guys, but I doubt there will ever be new development on that blum.gif . Well, not by me anyway. With The Continuum Project thing, I'm kind of busy.

That is if the Continuum Project succeeds, of course... Then I'll find it useless to continue developping DCME. TCP will also need its editor blum.gif

DCME is a great tool!!! And it will still have have its uses in 2D Map design. I invisage a range of map formats including hyprid 2d/3d and pure 3d. You could always extend it to support 3D maps, once we have decided on a format.

OOP sucks for RDE (rapid development environment). I'll learn languages whatever i have to learn for school/work, but i'll still stick to vb6 if i need to make something. There's way too much overhead in other languages that i don't care about and is pretty useless most of the time anyway (vb6 hides all that)

@rootbear not interested in C# or spending countless hours of programming while i have no time doing that. I'm 21, i think it's about time to build myself a life now... though programming is waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier

I don't really code my c# in a very OOP way, all that refactoring and design patterns distracts you from doing the job imo (or maybe i just don't understand OOP blum.gif ). I've created applications in under a day in c#, c# is great for working with databases. Its the easiest language i've found for DB programming (which is what i mainly do in my job) . I've worked with (and am still working with) VB6 and VBA . The 'problem' with VB for TCP when i was deciding which language to use is its really tied to windows and COM, which is the main reason why i started the continuum project in c# 2.0 (which is more platform neutral)

Personally my view on languages is use what gets the job you require done in the easiest way for you. Its about using the correct tool for the correct situation for you.

yeah i agree. TCP shouldn't be made in vb6 anyway, it's too tedious for big projects, especially when multiple people work on it. C# or java is the best choice, but java is too slow for games, so that only leaves c# blum.gif . With proper comments and source control programming classes shouldn't be that hard.

And yeah, design patterns are very useful, but take up quite a bit of overhead in the start, which is for small projects a little too much, but for projects the size of TCP, it's worth the cost. It gives a nice structure, better readability, more reusability that prevents the project from going to one big ball of spaghetti blum.gif
