rootbear75 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 thanks, but unfortunately, i need one with a solid background. Those ones have a transparent layer. I cant use it if it has a transparent layer
»Maverick Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 I copied this one from a project I was working on, no idea where I got it from originally. logo.psd
Smong Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 You know if it's transparent you can just paste it onto a black image.
rootbear75 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 You know if it's transparent you can just paste it onto a black image.no, because pasting it would still keep the transparancy layer..only thing i could have done was screenshot it and paste it into paint
rootbear75 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 how do i do that?im not a gfx person, so using photelements/photoshop is alien to me
rootbear75 Posted October 12, 2007 Author Report Posted October 12, 2007 (edited) thx hakaku im trying to upload it as an icon, i converted it to a .gif using paint (open the .png then save as... *.gif)and it still says i cant use it cause it has a transparent background imma try copying and pasting using a screenshot EDIT: Wtf! even doing that way says it has a transparent background? anyone know why it wont work?? »Maverick Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Saving as .gif works for me. Not really nice though.Saving in Photoshop would certainly generate better results.
PoLiX Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 how do i do that?im not a gfx person, so using photelements/photoshop is alien to me If you don't want to flatten the image, or merge all layers just hold ctrl and click on the layers you want, and then right click on one of the selected and merge them. That or you can link layers, and merge linked layers later on to flatten only some of the layers you want. All depends on what your doing on what methods you want and all.
rootbear75 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) all the pictures ive tried (all the pictures on this page too..), i keep getting this: Edited October 13, 2007 by rootbear75
»Maverick Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 That basically means the site is kaput because most of the images here doesn't contain a single transparent pixel.
JoWie Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) try saving as gif version 87, not gif version 89. If you want to know what version a gif is in, open it in a text / hex editor and look at the first 5 characters. Edited October 13, 2007 by JoWie
Hakaku Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Here's two differently compiled .gif files, though they're both 89a. (paint sucks at converting, so I don't recommend it) Anyhow, can't you use another file format other than .gif? Is it suppose to be animated? What's wrong with png, or jpg? And are you sure you aren't doing something else wrong?
rootbear75 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) uh nope, they only allow gifs.. i dont know why how do i change the version? EDIT:that second one worked. thanks hakakuhow did u compile it? Edited October 13, 2007 by rootbear75
Hakaku Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 The first one was compiled using FastStone Image Viewer from the original .png file, the second one was re-compiled from the first one using Gypsee Pro. There's a slight difference if you hex edit the two files, but other than that, the difference is the second one is a program designed for animated .GIFs
JDS Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 you guys are probly overthinking this.. it cant this hard to make a non-transparent immage
rootbear75 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 you guys are probly overthinking this.. it cant this hard to make a non-transparent immagethats not the point. the point was that it wouldnt let me upload an image which "supposedly" had no transparent pixels
Samapico Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I checked the 2 files attached by Hakaku... the first one had transparency set to palette entry 255. So even if there was not a single pixel using that value, it was still a 'transparent' gifPaint shop pro works well for gifs...
