I did that on purpose when I rewrote the gate module.

 

yah, thats what i figured. still, it does make it hard to get throught sometimes...

well it stops the gateglitching, all u have to do is go fast with wb or jav and hope the mines dont have prox(its easy when u go from ht to a base because of the speed boost) or use a ftl engine

I realize that it was intended to promote the use of FTL drives, but all it's done is create noobish gatemining/farming tactics. It didn't create any additional incentive to get FTL drives because whoever can afford them gets them anyway.

Rather than using a relative position, why not use 9 or so fixed positions within the gate area?

 

You would spawn at one of them randomly when travelling through a gate and this would give everyone a much better chance of getting through gates within being killed by lame miners.
