Samapico Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Yeah, I think that's quite old, is it? Atheists are also the reason why science has advanced...
»1587200 Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Funny clip. Way to contradict themselves.

Bak Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Alice has a good point, this country was founded on christianity and that's all about caring for your neighbor and such. By banning that, aren't we really banning being nice to other people?
Hakaku Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 But freedom of religion, means you're allowed to have any religion, no? Not all world religions have a god... lol, and the last paragraph is really dumb
SeVeR Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Alice has a good point, this country was founded on christianity Actually no, it wasn't. Many of the founding fathers were atheist or agnostic, and all of them agreed that America should not be an exclusively Christian nation. Christians in America have claimed the founding fathers as their own for obvious reasons. Once again, they are messing with history.
Shock Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 I hate religious people. They sit there and attack Athiests and turn around and complain when people attack religion.
Dav Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 technically atheism is a religion, its just one that teaches that there is no higher being or afterlife and a true atheist holds this belief very strongly. You will find the vast majority of non religious people are in fact agnostic. Problem with a nation that has little separation of church and state is highlighted here, the christens of a christian nation will sit on their high horse and spread their views in a forceful manor. This is promoted by the fact that the bible has a lot of influence in the politics and day to day lives of the nation and thus there peoples views are almost always in the public eye. Take an instance where church and state are seperate, the church has little or no influence on the politics of the nation and so their views are often ignored in favor of those that are most logical.
Samapico Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Alice has a good point, this country was founded on christianity and that's all about caring for your neighbor and such. By banning that, aren't we really banning being nice to other people?Being nice to other people is not part of any religion... it's just common sense. Yeah I know christianity says to care for your neighbor and everything, great... If it wasn't for that I would be hating everyone around me, thanks Jesus! And it's not like if other religions didn't have more or less the same values...Do people really need that we tell them to be nice? Religions seem to be something for the dumb people who can't figure out stuff on their own. 'Care for your neighbor... unless he doesn't beleive in God'
NBVegita Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 actually !@#$%^&*!@#$%^&*, i dont feel like having to watch fruity christmas specials WHEN IM NOT !@#$%^&*ING CHRISTIANNOR DO I FEEL LIKE HEARING CHRISTIAN PRAYERS WHEN IM NOT CHRISTAIN! !@#$%^&* I'm not christian...!@#$%^&* I'm not even religious, but I love christmas, the music, all of it. !@#$%^&* on a side note, I even love the 10 commandments, great movie! No body forces you to pray or to watch christmas specials. One of my good friends was married a few years back and had a full catholic wedding. Of course I was standing in it, and when everyone knelt to pray, I didn't. They all understood that, just as I understood that I can respect their religion, and sit through a christian mass even if it is not what I believe in. What I think does go too far is there were a lot of public places in some states that this past christmas were not allowed to have a christmas tree set up. I don't care if you're christian or not, Christmas is a national holiday. If you choose not to celebrate it, that is completely up to you, but don't infringe on the other people who do choose to celebrate it. And I'm sorry, if seeing a pine tree decorated with ornaments and lights really upsets you so much, I think you may need a little help.

Aileron Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 There was no such thing as a great athiest scientist. The good scientists, the ones who truly made heavy contributions were Christians with exception to Einstein, who was Jewish. However, Athiests like to spread the myth that they are the scientific ones because the Athiest religion cannot survive without science. They need the Theory of Evolution, because without it Athiests don't have a creation story. They need Global Warming, because without it they don't have an apacolypse story. Every time any scientist contradicts one of these theories, he is sued, stripped of his standing, and discredited. Neither of these theories is relevent really. Evolution concerns pre-history, and we are going to run out of fossil fuels soon enough anyway. Meanwhile the Physics and Chemistry experts, those who's efforts will determine our future and will find the next source of energy are mostly religious people. I guess thanks to the ACLU, most scientists have to be agnostic nowadays, because to be a scientist and contradict Athiesm is heresy and if you are a heretic legal action is taken against you. Also, "Freedom of Religion" != "Seperation of Church and State". Ancient Egypt had seperation between Church and State, but not freedom of religion. The Pharoh did manage to pull the feat of keeping the secular government independent of the temple, while being the sole link between the two, and still managed to impose their form a paganism on the populace.

NBVegita Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 for Ail: A direct quote from Issac Newton: "Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion. God governs all things and knows all that is or can be done."
JDS Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) technically atheism is a religion, its just one that teaches that there is no higher being or afterlife and a true atheist holds this belief very strongly. You will find the vast majority of non religious people are in fact agnostic. a 'true athiest' doesnt hold ANY beliefe's in such a matter.. if you dont fall into that catagory^ you are what they would call an agnostic.. or an idiot Edited September 24, 2007 by JDS
ThunderJam Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Atheists are also the reason why science has advanced...Can religious people not be scientists? People say science and faith can't work together: Not True. Plenty of christians believe that scientific events/findings have a root in our faith. The big bang has often been considered to be god "making the heavens and earth" in genesis. Did you know (at least I read this recently) that if one second after the big bang, if the expansion of matter had been at the smallest fraction less speed, that it all would have collapsed back in on itself and the universe wouldn't have been made? Could have been God that caused that, or it could be chance.
JDS Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 the big bang is not nessesaraly what happend and genesis is a JOKE. honestly...
PullTripSquid Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 a joke that the majority of the world believes. must be a good one, eh?
ThunderJam Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 the big bang is not nessesaraly what happendWow. I go with the big bang because normally if any Christian starts off on creationism, you will all shout "THATS NOT NECESARILY WHAT HAPPENED." So, in my post I go along with taking what you all regard as the accepted scientific explanation, and show how it does not dispel creationism, but rather they could go hand in hand. After that, what do i get in response... "THE BIGG BANG ISNT NECESARILY WHAT HAPPENED." and genesis is a JOKE. honestly...If you can explain yourself, I'd be happy to hear why you think it is a joke, but otherwise I have to respectfully disagree with you.
Falcoknight Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Just because someone is classified as a Christian, does not mean they believe every word that is said in the Bible.Besides that, there are what, 2 billion Christians in the world? Last time I checked 1/3 of the total people does not equal a 'majority.' I don't know where you come up with this stuff.
PullTripSquid Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Just because someone is classified as a Christian, does not mean they believe every word that is said in the Bible.Besides that, there are what, 2 billion Christians in the world? Last time I checked 1/3 of the total people does not equal a 'majority.' I don't know where you come up with this stuff. A true Christian believes every word of the Bible, although they may not understand it all at first. And yes, there are about 2 billion Christians in the world, which is the largest following for any major religion. I was comparing the the number of Christian followers to the followers of all the other major religions, not the number of Christians to the number of people on the planet .
Ganjaman USS Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Religion, no religion, ethnicity, sexuality, its all just a reason for people who naturally want to have enemies to make them. We should all just get along really shouldn't we ? I mean thats the bottom line when you think about it. And if christianity preaches that we should be good to each other, and 2 billion people try to follow that, I say fair enough. For the record I'm an atheist, but I'd never stand in the way of letting another person think, or be, whatever they choose from their lives. Because as long as they're happy, I'm happy Peace
