1) ID Drives are better than TW. TW Needs an upgrade of some kind, but not too big to make it overpowered. Suggestions are:

    Moving TW Entrances/Exits to more convenient places
    Making TW Tokens work
    Lower price of TW P!@#$%^&*
    Dr Brain suggested entering from anywhere with ?tw, which should only be usable outside of antiwarp and outside of the same region that prevents ID.

Mainly, TW Tokens need to be fixed, or be taken off, because a lot of players will not know it's broken, and waste 1K.

ID has the death penalty and can be antiwarped.

 

 

It's also 2 times faster and more convienent. Plus, if you have an engine failure, it will probably kill an innocent bystander. Also it's cheaper. Way, way better.

 

 

Something else for TW: TW entrances in the Hypertunnel, one on each side. Transwarp can be fixed up easily, right?

I think tw tokens might still be a little too pricey. In relation to the gate mining thread, most players can't afford to spend 1k just to get to a base. As for Jump engines and ID drives, those are just TOO expensive for newer players. If they aren't willing to spend 1k for tw tokens how can you expect them to spend 150k or 50k just to get into a sector? I can tell you wanted to promote ftl engines Doc, but your tactics has only appealed to the richer, more experience population.

 

-maybe lower the price of tw tokens to $500?

I also agree that it would be nice to have more or better located Transwarp Gates.

 

Also, Transwarp P!@#$%^&* might be overpriced given the convenience of ID Drives...

I agree with gb about the overpricing, I'm not poor, or rich, but I'm still not willing to pay even 1k for a tw pass because I'll probably just get killed right when I get out. Also, centerkilling, it takes about 20 kills (without bounty) to get 1k when you get about 50 per kill, and after 20 kills, you spend all that money, just to die at the base. Lowering it would definetely promote basing (because it would be easier to find flags).

that wont work, tw p!@#$%^&* is still better IMO, if u lower the price, everyone will use it and people can lame with fields/point defense/bricks in tw, and u get the safelamers that just tw lame instead since its so cheap, also if u get a lanc in tw, its a free tw ride for everyone on that freq

make it same $ as id, so it balances the fact it is a bit slower with not dien at all

The point is it's imbalanced - TW pass at $1000000, is way overpriced considering how much other FTL engines cost - Jump Drive only $50000, Summoner only $100000, ID Drives only $150000.

 

As far as laming in the TW hub, unfortunately laming's always been a part of Continuum in general and HS in particular; and dramatically overpricing TW just so there's no laming in TW doesn't make much sense, since those would-be TW lamers would just go lame somewhere else, e.g. safelame or mine jumpgates.

 

That said, I agree $25000 for a TW P!@#$%^&* is too cheap. Still, TW isn't really that convenient - e.g. from center safe you still have to fly to one of the corners, just like with a jumpgate, except you can fly to one of the corners without a jumpgate too. I think pricing a TW P!@#$%^&* at $50000 would make sense as TW is comparable to Jump Drive overall... Jump Drive is more flexible, but TW is a bit quicker. and Jump Drive is restricted to a few ships only.

 

(TW Token could be cut down to say $500, which still isn't dirt-cheap but is more reasonable than $1000.)

 

As it is, with TW P!@#$%^&* costing $1000000, the TW network is effectively unused, which seems like a waste of a valuable HS resource.

 

As far as having a lanc in the TW hub, that is a viable tactic, and one I myself have used in the past when being lanc for a bad team battling an Ignescent-occupied base; however, that tactic is very uncommonly used for several reasons: one, it's insanely boring for the lanc flyer to sit in the hub and do nothing; two, the lanc flyer gets no money during the whole ordeal (where getting money is one of the main rewards from the basing experience) due to being far away from the action; three, if the attacking team starts moving into the base, it becomes impractical to have the lanc in the hub, and the lanc would have to move into the base anyway. So the tactic while sound at first glance (free TW rides for everyone!), isn't really that useful in practice.
