...is really starting to piss me off. My inbox is constantly spammed with emails about how superior redstar is, and it's getting annoying. Upper management for RS seems to be inactive (shardz and Kewlair) and it's users/staff don't care:

SyrusMX> who the !@#$%^&* is in charge here?

Leviticus> me

SyrusMX> ?find kewlair

Not online, last seen more than 10 days ago

SyrusMX> ?find shardz

Not online, last seen more than 10 days ago

SyrusMX> I like how the top two sysops haven't been seen for over 10 days

SyrusMX> that shows dedication right there

SyrusMX> which is probably why someone from this zone keeps hacking Fusion's forums and spamming my inbox with !@#$%^&*goty RS spam

Leviticus> Use better security

Leviticus> or maybe stop using frontpage to make ur sites

That's enough right there for me to suspect Leviticus, but whatever. This is me publicly calling out RS and Fusion. Quit waring like little kids. RS, if you want to take out Fusion, find some other way to get their users, like oh I don't know, getting sysops who aren't inactive, or a decent map, or some decent settings might be a start. And Fusion, secure your website. This is the second time this has happened, and since you can't even keep people from hacking your site/forums, then I'm afraid at how unsecure your zone may be.

Frankly I think TT/freakmonger/whoever runs SSCC now-a-days and D+ should pull the plug on both your zones for your inability to act like adults and secure your !@#$%^&*.

Redstar staff does not support the hacking of Fusion forums in any way. Currently RS is in hibernation/dead (practically no pop, shardz gone, kewlair semi-inactive), so hacking and sending people to RS doesn't really help much. All it does is give RS a bad rep. And we already know we're gonna need a lot more to revive RS than just some e-mails (new map, new attractions etc etc).

About the inactive higher staff: Current sysops are Cardsharp, Zedonk and Termination.

We can't do anything about Fusion's forums being hacked. They need to do something about it themselves.

Next time, blame the person responsible and not the zone he's trying to belong to. He could just as easily put ssforum.net in those e-mails.

At which time his IP would be cross checked against the user base and banned from the site. I can only hope RS would take similar action against those creating a bad name for your zone.

Then maybe you should try to talk to the upper staff of RS, instead of simply blaming them for their inability to be active and let whoever keep spamming. With that post, you just proved my comment above of

and it's users/staff don't care
Talk to the other sysops, contact your host, do SOMETHING, instead of nothing.

And you wonder why your zone is dead.

Lol, I know why it's dead. And when the population dropped to 0, staff lost interest themselves and went on with other things. Don't blame them for not being there 24/7 when noone is there. If any zone is to blame, it's Fusion (they shoudn't be blamed tho).

Now afaik the hacker has already been netbanned. So from ss point of view there is nothing left we can do.

First off i would like to apologize personally to you SyrusMX.

Your right, this is very annoying and after the first attack, we should have done everything we could have to stop it.

I did place a forum IP ban, but he got around that using his school's ip.

Right now he is banned on both IPs, and IP ban range, as well with the server itselt.

I was !@#$%^&*uming the person learned his lesson, but it seems not.

Since the second attack we have started looking for a new forums system. We should have something very promising in 24 hours.

Again I'm really sorry for what happened again.

We are Fusion have never attacked RedStar in such a manner, that it has impacted the players in such a degree.

We have never attacked RedStar's forums system.

The zone itself is secure. passwords, FTP accounts and are very secure, I'm the only one that has FTP to the zone.

As for staff password wise, after the first time the forums were hacked the first thing done was all staff passwords changed, and i became very anal to my upper staff and made them change all their passwords before giving them the new passwords.

The only flaw here would be on my part to use an old forums system that isn't really worked on much anymore.

But that is changing.

Yavaris, sadly the hacker known as Fox-1, is in fact the culprit.

That user is in fact banfreed in RedStar, as well as staff in the zone.

Not that it would matter to many, (or to even yourself) i do find that Redstar staff lack of action to be supportive, or to be more accurately, ignoring what is going on.

Yes i guess it would make RedStar look bad, but I don't see any of you doing anything to defuse the issue of Fox-1. (who is part of RS staff)

As SyrusMX put it,

Then maybe you should try to talk to the upper staff of RS, instead of simply blaming them for their inability to be active and let whoever keep spamming.

Sorry again SyrusMX.

This pisses you off? I guess it doesn't take much to piss you off. There were around fourteen e-mails sent out on two different days. This happened on the 3rd and today. I would hardly classify that as being constantly spammed.

When it's e-mails that don't particularly address you in any way, and are just bull!@#$%^&*ting about a feud between two zones, 14 e-mails in two days is definitely spam. Do you need a definition of spam?

Anyhow, the best solution would be better security to the forums, and an IP block on Fox-1.

Locked. In conclusion I'd like to thank Sketter for doing everything in his power to resolve the situation. If you're looking for free forum software, check out SMF, as it is more secure and better written than phpBB.

Also, a wag of the finger (thank you Steven Colbert) to Redstar, who has apparently ban-free'ed a known spammer and is ignoring the problem. Testtube, if you read this, please take note and appropriate action if you deem necessary.
