Testtube Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Continuum040Setup.exe is on SSDL Continuum .40 If you have any questions let me know.
»CypherJF Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Isn't there a zip file with just the exe and appropriate dll's? Or, does it really need a full installer?
rootbear75 Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 its not an upgrade like .39this is a full install with updates to probably everything
Samapico Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 And who takes care of http://www.getcontinuum.com/ ?
»CypherJF Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 its not an upgrade like .39this is a full install with updates to probably everything I doubt that very, very much. The only things which changed are probably the continuum.exe, menu040.dll, menures.dll?
Samapico Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 perhaps some changes in the registry
LiDDiS Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 (edited) Any thing cool added or is this bug fixes only? Edited September 6, 2007 by LiDDiS
Hakaku Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 And who takes care of http://www.getcontinuum.com/ ?Wonderer does. I'll contact him through the boards, unless someone has already?
PoLiX Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Continuum040Setup.exe is on SSDL Continuum .40 If you have any questions let me know. The thing was, TW jumped the gun, and so as kind of a punishment or a don't do it again from what I got, GS went ahead and posted their link in net-wide messages, and had me announce it and set things up on SSForum. So really, we were still not suppose to release it til this weekend, unless that has since changed... but he was still announcing it as so.
»Maverick Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Ghost Ship has announced it in a network-wide zone message, I consider that officially releasing it
»CypherJF Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 perhaps some changes in the registryWhy wouldn't the registry entries be created on first launch like any other release?
PoLiX Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Ghost Ship has announced it in a network-wide zone message, I consider that officially releasing it TW jumped the gun by a few days, but yes the new version of Continuum is released, All DL sites will be updated by this weekend,or you can abuse TW for early release@ http://www.trenchwars.org/downloads/Continuum040Setup.exe -Ghost Ship Doesn't sound official to me?
»Maverick Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 but yes the new version of Continuum is released :?
PoLiX Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Yes, because TW Jumped the gun, it got out, and I had all my messages full with questions if it was legit or not, and all sorts of !@#$%^&*. He had the same. So yes, it was released, just not when it was suppose to have been. P_L I've known for a long time, and is a good guy, so I'm not saying anything bad of him, just pointing out that I'm not making any big deal of the release until this weekend, that is all.
»SD>Big Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 someone get me up to speed please, which bugs have been addressed in this release, if any?
Hakaku Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 (edited) No one's actually answered that question to date, but the only thing different is that they changed the number from 0.39 to 0.40 and kept the same fixes/anticheat stuff from the beta 0.39. There's a resolution bug in 0.40. ASSS zones are blocked in 0.40 (unless you're sysop). And it's "suppose" to not spit out any error messages server-side. So basically 0.40 was released with more problems than 0.39, and without an actual updated subgame or ASSS server, there's no point on using the newer release. Edit: And not to mention the installer will override previous installations (resetting profile, macros, custom graphics, etc.). Also updates registry (though not that this is important to know). Oh, and when you're blocked out of ASSS zones, there's a new warning popup for it. Also, in the menu, "Help -> About", the copyright is now extended to 2007 instead of 2003. PoLiX Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 What is this Resolution bug? Haven't heard of any yet...
»Maverick Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 QUOTE(SD>Big @ Sep 7 2007, 04:35 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>someone get me up to speed please, which bugs have been addressed in this release, if any?The main changes in Continuum 0.40:- Additional anti-cheating checks- Better compatibility with Windows XP and Vista- Menu links updated- Changed default settings for graphics What is this Resolution bug? Haven't heard of any yet... I fixed it by changing the color depth in the options (from 32 to 16). Even when I changed it back to 32 the problem is still solved.Other players have reported that by going into a zone once also solves the problem. The severity of the bug is quite trivial.
PoLiX Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 mm... seems priit !@#$%^&*ed up when he set the default to 1280x1024... I bet it is being caused by wide screen monitors. Well, just my guess...
Quigybobo Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Is this going to be the final release of continuum and no more after that or are there going to be plans to update the game to a more advanced new stage?
rootbear75 Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 basically, is there ever going to be a version 1.0?
Smong Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 So basically 0.40 was released with more problems than 0.39, and without an actual updated subgame or ASSS server, there's no point on using the newer release. The public release of ASSS has been updated to support 40. Subgame can always be set to allow a specific version in the usual way, grab the cont exe, rename to subspace.exe and drop it in the version1 folder (anyone using the prerelease thing is just allowing cont38 through to cont40 enter, no security gains there).
FranKllr Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 Well the change log is quite thin hehehe. From my point of view, I think they changed how damage is calculated. Seem responding faster. So kamikaze might endup with someone actually living, won't die by bullets throwed out of a blowed up ship. And repel seem different too. Anyway, that maybe just me. Maybe, I wont try to repeat lvl hack exploit. With Process Monitor I saw they changed how to handle map files, gap is much smaller then before and maybe they don't even read the file after downloading. Maybe impossible now, unless you can create a System File Filter mouhaha. Even there, maybe they do a full map checkup. heh A problem I had since I changed from my Pentium 200 for a Athlon 800, and still persist on my Opteron185. When I tap to turn a direction, it do a double turn... Sometimes when going into a tube, I have to push left/right several time to get lined up. I think it might be happening less.
»CypherJF Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 I posted on the PB forums for Ekted to update the 'Player Scores' menu option since edome no longer is a score site. Didn't make it into the final build.
PoLiX Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 The menu options goto a redirect site, so it is very easy to update the URL. And the reason it was left should be pretty obvious. IE: Priit is a bit active again, so some things can be fixed/moved.
