Continuum .40 Issues

For some reason when I play some of the keys are being "pressed" while I no longer press them...

 

I am flying forward and turning left... (<- and ^ arrows). When I release the '<-' arrow key the ship continues to fly left untill I click another key.

 

I didn't have this problem before... some sort of sticky keys of sorts.

 

Sticky keys in on. My Keyboard is perfect, worked well on 0.39 and I can press 3 buttons at a time.

I had a similar problem with my 'shift' button... but it was related to my keyboard.

But you say it worked on .39?

ss won't show up in the task manager at all. i mean it will, for a split second, then it's gone. i've tried .39pr1 and .40. i've tried the dep fix; nothing. tried running in a compatibility mode, same deal. it may be spyware doctor thinking it's something it isn't. ss worked solid last week sometime; i installed sd today and that's when it started. i'll try uninstalling both and starting over.

spyware doctor is what was causing it. tried adding ss to the exceptions box and it still would not run. sd is uninstalled and subspace runs fine. a shame, really, but my addiction seems to be more important than tracking cookies.

I wonder if it's really SD that thinks continuum is something it isn't, or the other way around... Like Continuum might think SD is trying to screw with its inside when it scans it... Some kind of anti-hack feature. But that's exactly what was supposed to be fixed with .40 , weird

sd's got this thing that monitors the processes and will kill just about everything running. it wouldn't let me run ss, quake 4, and freaking open office. i dunno. eh.

help... I downloaded .40 and nothing happend so then i uninstalled it and got .39 again and it wouldnt work so then i uninstalled that !@#$%^&* then got .38 and that one didnt work either so uh.... wat now? .37 dont work either so.... idk what to do now since nothing works.. (i have windows xp)

what do you mean 'nothing happened' ?

It seems like you're doing something wrong in the installation or something... Does it installs? Then what, you double-click it and nothing happens?

If you tried all these versions one after another, I suggest rebooting, then trying again.

Hey, I don't know if anyone else has this issue. I just formatted my PC, and reinstalled SS from 0.38 going up to 0.39pr1 then to 0.40. And for some reason, now, whenever I alt tab it's just a big ol' box-o-black. Screen shot included. Tips/help/etc?

Try uninstalling, and run a registry cleaner. After that, do a fresh install from here. Also, make sure you install it under a user with administrator rights.

You could try Advanced Options -> and check the boxes related to chat and fonts... Not sure but I think someone fixed that kind of problem before

I have the same issue. I downloaded .40 and all the zones went dead. Then when i tried to download from the list it tells me error cannot retrieve the zone list. .39 works perfectly fine and i can download the zones from the list i have on .40. So i am not quite sure what is going on.

A firewall may be blocking Continuum from accessing the directory servers (yes, including windows' built-in firewall might be blocking it). So you should try disabling them.

 

Also, the only actual valid directory servers are " sscentral.sscuservers.net ssdir.playsubspace.com " So you can get rid of the rest of that jumble.

 

Third explanation is that the directory server went offline at the time you tried. Alternatively re-order the directory server list to " ssdir.playsubspace.com sscentral.sscuservers.net ". (and yes, order does make a difference)

I cannot even get the continuum .40 setup to run. I click on it and it just sits there. I have tried to do run as, but get an access denied error 5 message. Any suggestions?

I was playing T3G, and I had a certain amount of points and kills/deaths. I then saw that Continuum.40 had come out, and left the zone to download it. I downloaded it, and went back into T3G using Continuum.40. When I came back into the zone, I had lost all of my points and my record. I positively did not ?scorereset it, and a staff member did not reset me (logs checked.)

Hey i installed .40 and it worked great up untill the point it said refreshing zone list..... it didnt it gave me an error saying "Make Sure you are using one or more correct directory server addresses" or something like that. So can i get some help?

nope it just wont go on now i stop playing for the whole summer i had better things to do then i wanted to play again and i installed .40 and not thing happend then i tryed all the !@#$%^&* i said and nothing happends when i click it. its like there is nothing there. i have done everything i would think that would fix dis !@#$%^&* but nothing so idk
