PoLiX Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 If you are having any issues installing Continuum .40, or any bugs with this version, please post here.
Crayzee Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I have installed continuum .40 and it wont start. When i click on the Continuum.exe file nothing happend, the process doesnt even get started. Continuum .39pr1 works fine. I have installed over previous version of cont.
PoLiX Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 I already discussed with GS what we're gonna try. This is going to take a bit of work on your part, but if your down, I'm gonna have you try a fresh install. Talk to me in game, and I'll give you steps to doing this without losing anything.
PoLiX Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 Fix to this issue: Windows XP Data Execution ProtectionOpen up DEP and see if you have 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only', if so, check 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select'. Next add Continuum.exe to the list, and apply. Than you can go back to 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only' if you'd like, and it will load fine.

Ghost Ship Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Wtf is DEP? Better question is where to find it and change the settings? Ghost
Crayzee Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 (edited) Thanks for help! DEP is a tool against buffer overrun exploits, some processors have a hardware-based DEP. I dont think theres a way to turn DEP off completley but this trick with the adding of cont.exe than going back to turning dep on for windows based programms and processes only works great. You can access the setting by right clicking on My computer than clicking on Properties -> Advanced ->Preformace Settings button -> Data Execution Prevention Tab, then just do what Polix wrote! Thanks a million for help Polix! Edited September 5, 2007 by Crayzee
aquarius Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Does not work with ASSS. Waiting on Grel?
Guest Lizard Fuel Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 When I donloaded and installed .40, the menu window (Zones, Names, etc) spawned in the extreme upper left part of my screen at a point where I cannot drag it back down to toggle anything that might need toggling. I've tried right clicking and 'move' to no avail. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled both my .39pr and .40 and now they both spawn up in the corner. Any suggestions?
»Maverick Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Lizard Fuel, are you using 2 or more screens? If you use Right-Click + Move, press an arrow key first so the window sticks to your mousepointer.
»CypherJF Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Does not work with ASSS. Waiting on Grel? Correct, it is not compatible with ASSS. I've been talking with grelminar for the past couple of weeks about this, but, there's a known bug in the current mtn which he's been trying to address. So it might be a while before the build is ready.
rootbear75 Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 (edited) Sophos still thinks that Cont .40 is a virus. Someone want to email them so they can update their virus signatures? and whenever i try to open it, it says i am not allowed to open it, and to contact the file owner. EDIT: I tried sending off a copy of the file, but it wont let me open it so i cant attach it... Edited September 7, 2007 by rootbear75
»Maverick Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 If you can't select a resolution after installing Continuum 0.40 from the menu or in the profile window, try one of the following: - Change the color depth under Options: Go to View / Options / Graphics tab / Color Depth . - Enter a zone then exit once logged in successfully. Either of these should solve the problem. If not, please post here.

Wild Luck Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 when i am alt tabbed it looks weird
Wild Luck Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 i installed .40 on a new folder, i uninstalled it and then re installed it on old continuum folder and its fixed, sorry for your time
a tool Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) ss won't show up in the task manager at all. i mean it will, for a split second, then it's gone. i've tried .39pr1 and .40. i've tried the dep fix; nothing. tried running in a compatibility mode, same deal. it may be spyware doctor thinking it's something it isn't. ss worked solid last week sometime; i installed sd today and that's when it started. i'll try uninstalling both and starting over. (edit)spyware doctor is what was causing it. tried adding ss to the exceptions box and it still would not run. sd is uninstalled and subspace runs fine. a shame, really, but my addiction seems to be more important than tracking cookies. Guest sk Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 For some reason when I play some of the keys are being "pressed" while I no longer press them... I am flying forward and turning left... (<- and ^ arrows). When I release the '<-' arrow key the ship continues to fly left untill I click another key. I didn't have this problem before... some sort of sticky keys of sorts. Sticky keys in on. My Keyboard is perfect, worked well on 0.39 and I can press 3 buttons at a time.
