Sass Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 (edited) Without naming names, please lend me your opinion about this situation... I've been working on a zone, in my spare time, over the past several months. I feel that I've created graphics which add something different to the game. Recently, I brought another ss player to my zone to see the work which I had completed. He was amazed and in awe at my work having complemented it several times. Within a week after showing him my zone this ss player who is able to make graphics, took the definitive parts of my design and duplicated them for use in his own zone. When I asked him about this, he made claims such as "These are hand designed" and "these are different because i added...(x)". Basically, the form and figure of his graphics closely mirrors that which I had created. I'm not worried about this other than to say it's a matter of bringing out my zone faster than he will in order to clarify who is the copyright and original owner of the form and figure of the design. What advice would you give to me in this situation? Edited August 27, 2007 by Sass

What advice would you give to me in this situation? 1. Open up your zone quickly... (probably not a good idea, just say it is for testing purposes)2. If the graphics are similar in your opinion log and screen shot the things he says to you so in later time he can not complain, and possibly make him look bad
»Maverick Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Be careful to show your zone to strangers until it's finished to go live Opening your zone before he does is pretty much the only thing you can do (this prevents people claiming that you stole his graphics while in reality it's the other way around). In the end you'll win if you keep updating your zone. The fact that he copied it shows that he isn't that creative and he won't change it much because he doesn't care. If you make your zoner even better then you'll win the "race".

Depending on what you need I can help you get it up faster.
Sass Posted August 27, 2007 Author Report Posted August 27, 2007 Well guys, thanks for your advice. I'm going to talk to tt about getting space on a subgame platform and I'll cross my fingers.
ThunderJam Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 O come on now, this shouldn't require you to open early... If he is hosted by any server approach that server's owner and show him your originals of the graphics. If that server owner does not tell his zone owner that he needs to remove the graphics or have the zone closed, then it's no respectable server and the opposing zone shouldn't pose any serious problem to you. Otherwise, simply the fact that you posted here is plenty of proof for any knowledgable community members that you made the work... that and I doubt that anyone would think some random nub can make graphics as well as you can.
tcsoccerman Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 wow for once i feel bad for a person over the internet. i felt bad because i was going to help you but didn't and kinda left, but now someone stole your gfx? you told me you were working for months on those and they(not telling what for s!@#$%^&*'s sake) were very very good. gj on the gfx. i hope that stubborn stealer kills himself. i will post advertisements AGAINST that stealers zone .

Telling someone NOT to go somewhere, they will be curious, and go there anyway.
Dav Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 brnging zones out before they are ready isnt always good but it may be in this case. The other thing you could do isput out shots and such as a preview before he gets the chance to do anything.
Sass Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 Freakmonger was willing to host my new zone however it wouldn't be worth launching a 1/2 completed design. Therefore, against my better will, I'll keep my design in the test zone for now and when it's ready I'll bring it out. Best I can do. :/
tcsoccerman Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 s!@#$%^&* i'm still willing to help.
Sass Posted September 8, 2007 Author Report Posted September 8, 2007 Well, here's the deal: Jonus is the one who copied my design. He had copied the DS style ships before seeing what I had done then afterwards immediately changed his ships to match the ones I had shown to him. Now, Jonus has gone and given his shipset out to other zones like Starship Troopers and uses them in his own zone Super Fortress 2. Jonus, you have proven that you have no honor and that you'll go out of your way to harm people who put their trust in you. Because of this, I hope that folks reading this will remember how Jonus operates and will not support him, his zone, or things he claims to have designed. Like the Chinese, he simply stole what was shown to him with trust and puts his name on it. I hope that the ss community will not support him. Thanks.
Quigybobo Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 I'm here to help you with whatever you need. This guy will get no support from anyone in hyperspace or anyone else that I know. What aloser for stealing ideas that he can't make on his own. I will do what ever is needed to help you out s!@#$%^&* to get your zone done. Just let me know what you need to be done.

First of all, Starship Troopers is not a public zone. I don't apprechiate slandering the name of my zone into this discussion with out, 1) permisson from me 2) talking with me first. I have no problem finding a new ship set to use (when I actuallly launch). Jonus offered to let me use this current shipset so I could test my settings. If they are your designs, I apologize. I don't consider graphics to be "stolen" when the zone isnt even hosted. I run my zones with the upmost integrity and will not be branded as a dishonest person, because you decided to freak out instead of contacting me first. Edited September 8, 2007 by Dethdefire
jmunky85 Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 (edited) Before you read any more of these flase accusations go ahead and read the thread jonus started on this forum. S!@#$%^&*, you have been mistaken by your claims, and I have posted the proof needed to end this topic on this thread. http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?p=74264#74264 Edited September 8, 2007 by Dethdefire
Sass Posted September 8, 2007 Author Report Posted September 8, 2007 No, I'm not mistaken and I hope that others will read the log which clarifies to the point that Jonus would never had designed anything like what you see in that post without having first had a insider's view of my designs which was granted to him in trust. If you are using ships that do not reflect my original design then I digress my statement about your Starship Troopers zone. When you release it I hope it does well on it's own originality.
