🜲 PoLiX Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 If you know anyone having issues, please, continue to send them my way. This has fixed every bug everyone who has ran it had. The only issue was a virus scanner on Rootbear's laptop, that we have sent the info off to Priit to look into. Seems Sophos thinks continuum is a virus. All good so far. SSForum.net - September 01, 2002 - Rowen (SSDownloads.Com), PoLiX (SSCentral.Com), and Cyberise (Subspace.Net)
Smong Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I've already sent cont to sophos a few times in the past and they fixed their virus signatures within a day or two. There's also http://www.virustotal.com/ which you can run it through.

🜲 PoLiX Posted August 17, 2007 Author Report Posted August 17, 2007 Something that has been confirmed more than once. If you have had to force things into memory, or turn on many things like Software Emulation to fix bugs, it'd seem running .39 Beta, and than .39pr1 again, will fix all those bugs if you turn those off. Underlord had reported this, but more and more people are e-mailing me back with the same. Me and GS believe it must be something in the registry it updates, or a file or files. SSForum.net - September 01, 2002 - Rowen (SSDownloads.Com), PoLiX (SSCentral.Com), and Cyberise (Subspace.Net)

Ewan Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 I assume, as it is a Beta release, there will be minimal additions for the final release version of 0.39. This is disappointing news. This post suggests the only additions will be a few bug fixes. I wasn't expecting any "cool "new features, I was just hoping something would be done to help combat cheating. Currently, anyone with limited knowledge can quite easily (and undetectably) cheat in such a way to give themselves a strong advantage over other, more honest, players.
MikeTheNose Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 Ewan, this client is an anti-cheat update. - MikeTheNose- Subspace Central Network BanG Administrator-------------------------------------"I have never wavered in my commitments to this zone and I am certainly not doing so now."Â Â You just did.
★ freakmonger Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Ewan, this client is an anti-cheat update. Which is why it will be a mandatory update to play in most major zones. And then all of you cheaters can f-off
Ewan Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Well then forget what I said, that is great news!
Hakaku Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 People will still find ways to cheat, so it's by no means a permanent fix though. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v138/zacinu/SubSpacebannt2.pngPSPACE (SourceForge) - Alternative client (source) to Continuum
★ freakmonger Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 People will still find ways to cheat, so it's by no means a permanent fix though. True, but it fixes all the cheats that exist now.
★ 1587200 Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Hakaku, why are you such a downer man?
Hakaku Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 I'm not down, if anything I'm happy at least something is going to be fixed. But I'm not gonna run around and say "YAY AN UPDATE". ★ Ceiu Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Indeed. There will never be a fully secured client in this game, simply due to how it's designed. This update is nice and all, but that doesn't mean we're going to enter the golden age of SS where cheating is non-existent. At the very least, you'll still have your Sikas and Chambaii. ★ 1587200 Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 1) Who said anyting about this update being cheat proof?2) Who elaborated to anything concerning a golden age where cheating is non-existant?3) Prittk could just not update the client, and continue letting it go to !@#$%^&*. ffs guys, at least be a little thankful.

Gravitron Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 (edited) SScouncil hype machine back in Y2K:"Continuum means that we have client source and full control and if any cheats are made we need to simply change the protocol which is easy to do and that'll fix it."Since then Priit hasn't touched continuum in eons and cheats ran rampant.Infact, cheats will continue to run rampant because they're occuring on the packet level rather than some memory hack like twister or whatever BS they'll try and feed you.And as even Cerium knows, the entire way the client is given far too much authority over itself and all the server can do, if it detects anything at all, is ban after-fact.But hey, at least we got a crappy prediction code and prox that goes off at no corolation to reality what-so-ever. 🜲 PoLiX Posted August 19, 2007 Author Report Posted August 19, 2007 People always have to have something to complain about... "Priit has abandoned us" He comes back "Well, a final release won't mean much" He's releasing a bug fixed continuum, that will stop many cheats. "Well, it won't stop em all" Can't just be happy for once can you people. The amount of effort Ghost Ship has put into this, getting a hold of priit, and pushing and pushing for this (I've been updated along the way the past 6 months), and all you can still do is !@#$%^&* about something. L.C. Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 What will happen to Continuum even after those updates? The updates are primarily focusing on just stopping cheating, but not adding new features. Like PunkBuster for Continuum; atleast there won't be as many people to ban. Continuum will still decline as normal, don'cha think? ★ Maverick Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 You are all complaining about getting everything fixed right now, the message here is that you should be grateful for this baby step and maybe we can go on from there. ★ Ceiu Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 No one's complaining about an update. What we have is one group saying "You should be grateful that anything was done", another group saying "These updates aren't exciting", Chambahs saying "This !@#$%^&* is cheat proof, yo" and the general population saying "Great, another download for nothing." It's not that anyone's ungrateful, it's that most of us don't care about this update. Considering someone in the community has the source to the game and the only things we can get done with it is an anti-cheat update every 3 years -- why should we care? Cheating in this game has basically been reduced to memory scanning/editing anyway. And since there are several ways to byp!@#$%^&* it already (even with the new updates), it's only a matter of time before the script kiddies using CE figure out how to do it. Then what? We're right back to square one, waiting for the holy one to bless us with another "zomg no more cheetz" update. The general population doesn't cheat. The general population doesn't even deal with cheaters. The general population wants new features and new stuff to play with. Instead, they get a 3-5mb download so cheating can be stopped for a few weeks. Why should we all get excited about that again? So far, Hakaku has the best post in this thread:I'm not down' date=' if anything I'm happy at least something is going to be fixed. But I'm not gonna run around and say "YAY AN UPDATE". I'll state the truth, and stick to that.[/quote']   P.S.I already know about the other things being fixed. Don't correct me.
