Dav Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Unfortunatly these people will not care about a small pe!@#$%^&*ion. They care about money, money and money. Also on a nice day like today they will be thinking about money. The only way we will get this domain back is to sweet talk them a bit and offer a payment of some form. As i said they may be more willing to cooperate if we inform them that we a donation dependant community keen to retain its !@#$%^&*ests for the player base. I will try to e-mail them this evening, probably a waste of time but i can see where it gets me.
»doc flabby Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 would be far easier and cheaper to email all the sites that using the subspacehq.com address and update them to the new addresses. google "link:www.subspace.net"google "link:www.subspacehq.com" contact the websites with updated urls.
rootbear75 Posted August 8, 2007 Author Report Posted August 8, 2007 wtf is with the bull!@#$%^&* names...cmon people, if we want to be taken seriously, at least put ur first name...dont do this:John Doe Hugh J!@#$%^&*Squamish Hardcore ClimbOne Of Many
»Maverick Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Pointless from the very beginning - see Dav's reply
Dav Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I haven't had time to fire a begging message at them yet, i will have a moment tomorrow so ill give it a shot then.
Ophie Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 wtf is with the bull!@#$%^&* names...cmon people, if we want to be taken seriously, at least put ur first name...dont do this:John Doe Hugh J!@#$%^&*Squamish Hardcore ClimbOne Of Manyhaha i am Squamish Hardcore Climb. what is up with you guys with SSHQ anyways? It's not like it contributed anything good to the community, except for its ban form which can be duplicated... I mean come on... what's so special about SSHQ? oh and by the way, for those of you who think that people depend on subspacehq as their main source of news: news flash - the site is RARELY visited by anybody and is mostly visited by people who already use SSForum and are tuned in to the news already. There is barely any traffic for sshq to merit its return.
Falcoknight Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Are you implying that my name (Hugh J!@#$%^&*) is in some way inappropriate? I don't appreciate you insulting my name that was thought on long and hard by my parents Ben Dover and I. C. Peenys.
Cancer+ Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I put One of Many and I meant one person in a big community. Noone needs our real names. My real SS name is there.
rootbear75 Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 (edited) for a pe!@#$%^&*ion, you need your real name, or no one is going to take it seriously i put the game nick field there to not attract other people that arent part of the community... in hindsight, i suspect it would have helped us :/ Edited August 9, 2007 by rootbear75
Cancer+ Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Like the owners are going to give a !@#$%^&* anyways. We mean nothing to them. And the people who do know sshq will now see Galactic and be like oooo ahhh. Noone is going to take an "Internet" pe!@#$%^&*ion seriously. Real or fake names.
Sass Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Sometimes my dry mouth feels like silverware.
NBVegita Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I have been in contact with the company that owns the name. I, through my company, offered to purchase the name for a client, about a month ago. They quite politely told me that they unfortunately are not interested in parting with the name at this time, but if in the future they do decide to sell the domain name, they will keep my business on record as a prospective buyer. AKA - Forget getting the name.
rootbear75 Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 aw any reason why they want to keep it?
»Rowen Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I killed SSHQ when Cyberise, Polix, and I had the golden age at SSNET.In fact I had a few death threats from Mackieman if I recall.Leave it dead.
Cancer+ Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 aw any reason why they want to keep it? Because anyone who knows sshq will go there and then they will see Galactic. I already explained this.
rootbear75 Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 aw any reason why they want to keep it? Because anyone who knows sshq will go there and then they will see Galactic. I already explained this.thats ssnet, not sshq
Samapico Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I'm not signing because, as it was already said, I don't think a pe!@#$%^&*ion will help anything. When does it expire?
Mackieman Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Just for funsies, you guys should know that I was contacted by the jerkfaces who got the domain when it expired from Minbari's account. They said that if I gave them $250 for a year they would point the domain to whatever DNS I specified. That's right: I didn't even get the domain transfered to me for that princely sum. I promptly told them how to correctly employ the business end of an auger. Also, for those of you who don't know, SSHQ morfed in to www.ssbase.com when I lost the domain. I don't do news anymore but it still gets some traffic and it will probably be the central distribution point for the new version of Continuum along with SSDL.
