Wild Luck Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 How about ships appears different on radar depending wich type it is?Could be with color, shape, etc? nme should have different gamma of colors, it should be same on all zones!!
Yupa Posted November 8, 2003 Report Posted November 8, 2003 first line is fine couldn't decipher the second
Paine Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 He meansthey should be multi-coloured ghey rainbow style gay pride stars depending on which ship it is. because he likes zones to be gay.
Darkflare Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 paiyne...stop talking. seriously if you are gonna say something stupid like that then just stop posting. he was suggesting colors or shape differences in radar depending on ship type.
Trained Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Shouldnt this be in game developement?
»Dustpuppy Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 How would we tell enemies from friends if the radar showed shiptype?
Yupa Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 could do cold tones (blues, greens, etc) for one, warm tones (reds, oranges, etc) for another
Aileron Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 I dunno, I think you would run out of colors before ships. There are nine basic colors on the color wheel, whereas: 8 ships x 2 nme/friendly x 2 flagged/unflagged x 2 target bounty = 64 colors Well, that isn't exact. Currently we don't grant a seperate color for all cases. However, we currently use six colors (yellow for friendly, red for nme flag carrier, light blue for above target bounty, dark blue for below traget bounty, and purple for KOTH, and orange for decoy.) Correcting for this, you would get 48 colors. Still you see my point, it would be impossible to get 40 truly distinct colors, and even if you did you wouldn't be able remember them all. Maybe you could make it practical if you sacrificed a few base colors, but some players base their game on them. What we should settle with is a few things given to key ships on a zone specifc basis-. For example, terriers in TW should be a large blue square. Or maybe you could make it situation dependant, and give a special color to those with anti-warp on. However, there are not enough colors to do this on a ship by ship basis.
Aileron Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Oh, I got a better idea. Maybe you could put a player's banner on the radar beside the dot. That way you could track specific players more easily.
Dr Brain Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 It would be better to use shapes. Oh, and thats another 2x for KotH.
»Dustpuppy Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 Personally I don't think it's a major thing. However, I can see that it would be nice to distinguish certain situations, such as the aforementioned levi/terr in TW. So if anything, I think it would be better to allow the radar to be customised by the settings. This way you could have big (as with friendly flaggers) dark brown dots for terriers and tiny bright pink dots for levis.
Aileron Posted November 11, 2003 Report Posted November 11, 2003 yeah, gay ships should get gay colors: TW:levi = pinkweasel = tourquislanc = magenta Omega Fire:Jav = pinkTerr = pearlweasel = tourquisShark = purple 17th Parallel:Weasel = tourquisShark = baby blue
Guest GP-03 Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 rofl. workz pretty well for me. but it'll sure hurt my eyes >_< [/img]
Wild Luck Posted November 16, 2003 Author Report Posted November 16, 2003 hmmmmforms would be better i guess!!or maybe same type ships of same color both nme and friendly but with something that differences it like a red circle inside or around it for nme? glowing red? flagged could be something similar like 2 small purple circles inside the ship circle on radar!! or a triangle? Maybe sprite form of ship could be arrenged to look on radar?
madhaha Posted November 16, 2003 Report Posted November 16, 2003 Or maybe everyone could just buy a superhighres screen to use as a radar
Guest Guest Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 some pplz are kind of serius here!! ~~~~
Paine Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 what about numbers instead of shapes? much easier...
madhaha Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 How would that be easier (unless you meant easier to implement)?
Wild Luck Posted November 28, 2003 Author Report Posted November 28, 2003 i think it would be hard to see a number on the small radar
madhaha Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Now that would depend on font (we'd probably need to make a new one) and resolution now wouldn't it?
Aileron Posted November 30, 2003 Report Posted November 30, 2003 As I said earlier, actually it would be better to put the pilot's banner on their radar with a blue or yellow background. That way, supposing I wanted to hunt down and kill madhaha, all I have to do is look at his banner, and find it on my radar. It also can function as a kind of "lamer alarm" if you use it properly.
