PoLiX Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Due to my lack of time lately, I haven't been able to put almost any time or effort into the forums, and honestly, I think it shows as of late. So I decided to re-admin Syrus to take over running things day to day around here. Will help me in my other needs/projects for the site. He's in charge, so his word goes as mine or swift's would.
»1587200 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 As my first act of management, I'm deleting the thread where I said I quit...lol..
»1587200 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Oh, and everyone's fired...na just kidding...or are I?
»1587200 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I'm also playing with mods, so if I break the forum, um...stay tuned...
MikeTheNose Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 And as my first act, with this new authority I will create a grand army of the forum network to counter the increasing threats of the lamers and forum trolls....
PoLiX Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 Wee... almost got my computer back up and running. Gotta love when your C drive oddly corrupts, and when you go into XP Repair and try to dir the C drive, it shows nothing, and when reinstalling xp, it shows only 1mb used on C:\. Atleast my D drive is fine, so all my do!@#$%^&*ents and program files we're saved, gotta love that... grr.
Dav Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 and the award for being issued admin the highest number of times goes to.... Congrats (again) sysrus
Smong Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Your first act should have been to make a backup of the forums, when was one last made?
Sass Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) Congrats, this !@#$%^&*le and $5 will buy you a Happy Meal. Edited July 19, 2007 by Sass
»1587200 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Dude, $3.75 buys me a double cheeseburger meal, screw the happy meal.
Testtube Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 Full backups run monthly with incremental backups being run every Sunday which gets uploaded to a remote Server i have setup for backups only.
rootbear75 Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 (edited) you do know incremental takes a !@#$%^&* of a lot longer if you need to restore the server... i personally use differential backups... and what are the odds both go down at the same time... (backup server and this server) Edited July 21, 2007 by rootbear75
Testtube Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 The backup server is only to store Backups made of this server. Its not another server on hot standbyIn any case dispite the maintence and the money spent to keep active backups (server costs harddrive space and BW connectivity) I have informed all that need to be informed that they should also be making active backups as well
rootbear75 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) The backup server is only to store Backups made of this server. Its not another server on hot standbyi know that.. but if this server went down AND the backup server went down.. you are screwed..... and TT, if you want i can store backups on this computer if you want... im not going to be using it when i go to college so i can wipe it for you... PM if you are interested Edited July 22, 2007 by rootbear75
»1587200 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Do you have like a full T1 running into your house or somethin?
rootbear75 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) no.. i have residential cable.. do you really need a full T1 for backups? (and depending on whether my parents will actually let me use it.. i can have business cable)(i could also run it out of my college dorm too...) we are planning to go over to FiOS later this year...
