Drake7707 Posted July 15, 2007 Author Report Posted July 15, 2007 how the !@#$%^&* did you manage to let it crash oO" , i tried moving selections to those spots over and over again, but still don't get any error. (the error report is useless to me, i don't get any of it anyway. I removed some error checks that vb auto adds in compiler options to give dcme a speed boost (my guess for this is a Subscript Out of Range error meaning array out of bounds)) Quote
L.C. Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Well I can repeat it. Try pasting, zooming in 100%, then moving it to the top border or top-right borders. Quote
Drake7707 Posted July 15, 2007 Author Report Posted July 15, 2007 hm interesting, seems i don't get the problem in the ide but i do get it when i run the exe *investigates* my guess is that the out of bounds with moving selection is handled by error catching, but when i checked off the add out of bounds check in compiler options it doesn't raise errors, and it crashesEdit: yup just as i thought >.> btw, tabs are added FIXED update (3.1.7) done (autoupdate or http://dcme.sscentral.com/autoupdate/updateDCME317.exe)  change::301007::Fixed problem when switching between maps (window-->map) not being flagged as active mapchange::301007::Added map tabs at the bottom (a new toolbar, which you can toggle as the others)change::301007::Fixed problem when moving selection near edge (and probably others where out of array bounds errors occurred and were handled) Quote
Hakaku Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) Ok, I've got what I think is a Windows Vista specific error, since it happened in 3.1.1 too. I haven't thoroughly tested much, just noticed this. On startup I get this error message:Â and here's the error output:7/15/2007 6:49:27 PM --- Drake Continuum Map Editor (v3.1.7) starting... +++ OtherInstance 0 +++ openedMapByArgs False *** ERROR 52 (Bad file name or number) in procedure LoadRecent of Form frmGeneraledit: oh, and I can't get rid of tips at startup :/ Edited July 15, 2007 by Hakaku Quote
Drake7707 Posted July 15, 2007 Author Report Posted July 15, 2007 huh, error = 0 means no error at all Private Sub LoadRecent() 'Load the recent entry's 'load all the menu items under window, but hide them 'until we load a map Dim i As Integer On Error GoTo LoadRecent_Error For i = 1 To 9 Load mnuMaps(i) mnuMaps(i).visible = False 'load the recent menu from the recent.ini if it exists Load mnulstRecent(i) mnulstRecent(i).visible = False If FileExists(App.path & "\recent.ini") Then mnulstRecent(i).Caption = INIload("Recent", CStr(i), "", App.path & "\recent.ini") 'if there is a recent entry, make it visible If mnulstRecent(i).Caption <> "" Then mnulstRecent(i).visible = True End If End If Next 'as element 0 is already preloaded, we only need to retrieve the 'entry from the ini If Dir$(App.path & "\recent.ini") <> "" Then mnulstRecent(0).Caption = INIload("Recent", CStr(0), "", App.path & "\recent.ini") End If On Error GoTo 0 Exit Sub LoadRecent_Error: Call frmGeneral.AddDebug("*** ERROR " & Err.Number & " (" & Err.description & ") in procedure LoadRecent of Form frmGeneral") MsgBox "Error " & Err.Number & " (" & Err.description & ") in procedure LoadRecent of Form frmGeneral" End Sub what you see is that msgbox at the bottom, and the only way it is able to get there is when an error occurs, but 0 isn't an error o_O maybe try putting it to Windows XP Compatiblity ? Edit: crap, it must be the iniload which calls profilewritestring api, which is probably not supported or access level is not high enough to run it. Try running DCME as administrator ? Quote
Hakaku Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) I am an administrator, and the thing is, it only happens when you load up map files (not directly opening the .exe file)Â edit: as I said, if I load DCME directly (not the map file) I won't get any error, but the map file will. So changing permissions of dcme.exe doesn't change a thing. :S Edited July 15, 2007 by Hakaku Quote
Hakaku Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Ok, you can ignore me, after a reboot it seems some of the .lvl files were un!@#$%^&*ociated with DCME while some other ones were (for some weird reason it's possible :S). So through DCME I just re-!@#$%^&*igned .lvl files to it and it seems to have fixed the problem. Quote
Samapico Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 huh, error = 0 means no error at allI noticed that alot too... I think it must be because VB just flushes the error data once it used it... so when we doCall frmGeneral.AddDebug("*** ERROR " & Err.Number & " (" & Err.description & ") in procedure LoadRecent of Form frmGeneral") MsgBox "Error " & Err.Number & " (" & Err.description & ") in procedure LoadRecent of Form frmGeneral" the Err object must be flushed for some reason when comes the time to use it again in the msgbox... because we can clearly see that the log did indicate a 52 error... We should like... clone the error object first or something. Why not create a HandleError(err as error, bool critical) method? instead of going through all the error handling stuff again whenever we want to change something? by the way, I just came back from NYC... I see this beast is coming to life again, which is good I'll try to get some more time to help you out Quote
Drake7707 Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 The amount of bugs were stacking up a bit too much  Gah, now i gotta write a program that changes the error handler so i don't have to do everything manually Quote
