Pyriell Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I'm having the problem of continuum not loading. I've read the topic about how to fix it, but if the only way to get it to run is to start disabling my firewall/anti-spyware programs then I think i'll just forget it because honestly that's re!@#$%^&*ed. Does anyone know of any other way to get it to run? Or should I just forget it?
CRe Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 How about adding it to your program allow list in your firewall...?
Pyriell Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 I did that, still does the same thing. Loading cursor appears, it does nothing. It appears in the processes list but jumps about (which in another topic someone said meant it was stopping/starting a lot) then after about 10 minutes an error messade appears, error 000012b or something like that.
Hakaku Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 (edited) Pulls out file error book Name: Fatal error 0000012bAffected OS: AllDescription: Continuum refuses to open, and roughly 5 to 20 minutes later, the following message appears: “Fatal error 0000012b”.Solution: Not much is known about this error, but it has been suggested that it is caused by a problem in the registry, possibly caused by a previous installation of Continuum, which is now causing Continuum to try and open up twice. To fix this, uninstall Continuum completely and run a registry cleaner. So you basically need to do a fresh install of Continuum, first uninstall the whole game and !@#$%^&*ociated files. Run a registry cleaner to make sure it isn't corrupted there. * Reinstall Continuum (from an alternative source). * *Note: Where I put the stars, you'll probably want to reboot your computer just to make sure. Edit: But I've never heard of it jumping around in the processes and then having fatal error; which might mean that a firewall is blocking Continuum. Don't forget that Windows XP has a built-in firewall, so you may want to try temporarily disabling that and see if it works. Edited July 13, 2007 by Hakaku
Pyriell Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 Can you reccomend a good free registry scanner?
Hakaku Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 I can't prove that it's a registry problem, but my post was based solely off someone else's response once. Anyhow, you can try Eusing free registry cleaner (it's pretty good). You should still check your firewalls, or check for alternate viruses.
Incomplete Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I had a similar problem with another program (FRAPS). I had to delete all the registry files for it then load it up again. Try using RegMon (search for it in google if you dont have it) if Hakakus' doesn't work EDIT. I think Regmon is a little tougher to use if you dont know what im using, let me try it out again on the weekend. I'll let you know how to use it.
»1587200 Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 www.ccleaner.com also has a good registry cleaner.
mizerydearia Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I noticed on my laptop I could not play Continuum either.Upon formatting and reinstalling Windows XP and a few common apps I use and also Continuum, I still found that I was unable to play Continuum. It would terminate as soon as I executed the process. I decided to format and reinstall one more time. The first thing I did was install Continuum.Upon running it, it ran flawlessly. I then installed Kaspersky Antivirus 7.0.0.125 and now Continuum won't run ^_~
Dav Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 @ mizery as his messager is currently disabled: Why your posts dont show: We have a system where the first 5 posts by a new meber have to be approved by a mod. We do this to prevent spammers getting their messages through. Unfortnatly genuine member such as yourself get caught up in it as well. Next time to make a post wait a while and a mod will approve it like i have done with one of your posts in tech support. After 5 haver been approved you will be upgraded to a full member automatically then your posts will show first time. Hope this helps and welcome to SSforum
rootbear75 Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 question: my laptop is coming tomorrow with vista business the antivirus is what im worried about. Is Sophos Antivirus good w/ SS?
mizerydearia Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 @ mizery as his messager is currently disabled: Why your posts dont show: ... ... ... Ah, right. ^_~ Thanks. Now I feel bad, because I just replied to an email claiming my member account was temporarily suspended due to spamming, and I don't recall spamming, however, I suppose by my attempts to post repeatedly, the same content, each attempt seemingly failing (in my perspective), is considered spam and thus was the cause of my temporarily suspended account. Yep, I got caught up in being a legitimate nonspammer forum member merely trying to desperately post my comments and have now become evil spammer gone wild. p.s. I'll only post this once since I understand how my first five posts work now.
Cancer+ Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Seriously, you don't even need antivirus/spyware if you are a smart surfer. I really don't use either one and my computer is fine. Every once in a while I run antivirus.com and spybot. Other than that, I don't worry about it because I'm not stupid.
Hakaku Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Vista doesn't have the same problems as XP, so you should be fine running Continuum with or without firewalls.
Guest UnknownSoldier Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 Hey i managed 2 find a way 2 work continuum, If your computer has 2 accounts on it, open and leave both of them running and then try 2 play continuum on one or the other, thats how i got mine 2 work.
