I'm heading down to New York city next weekend (from thursday to sunday). I was wondering if any of you had suggestions about stuff to do there... Excluding stuff that would get us killed or raped, like going in the bronx and making racist jokes.

Hmm, well if you know some stuff or places to avoid too, I'm listening blum.gif I don't want to die :(

And yeah I'll be 21 so good bars (no snob places where you need to wear a toxedo and stuff...) if there are any are also welcome...

Main reason we're going down there is to see a Immortal show on Friday (oh, Friday the 13th... AAAAAAH)

Any nice stuff to see on the way? Or good places to eat a snack blum.gif

I would recommend not growing out a beard, duct taping a bunch of hotdogs together and wearing them around your torso and asking for directions to where people are. Just a friendly suggestion.

Having never been to NYC I can't help you, but next time you're in Fargo I can help. blum.gif

I've been to Fargo, too bad there's nothing to do there :(

However, if you're ever in Minneapolis or St. Paul, hit me up. heh. All kinds of things to do in the Twin Cities.

As far as NYC, see if you can find some cyber cafe's, like the one in the movie Hackers. They look interesting.

uhhhh if i were you i would just stay away from the Bronx, Queens, Harlem, etc., unless you wanna go shopping for some cheap brandname clothing, which i doubt you do lol, there's not much to do those places, and it isnt very safe either. oh yea...keep all wallets and purses out of site and secure LOL. Brooklyn...go to Coney Island smile.gif you can go to the beach there, but i don't think you wanna swim in that water lol. and try to stay in the shop/store district there, they have a bunch of clothing stores/food stores along 82nd st and 20th ave, or somewhere near there. Manhattan...shopping, or just sight seeing. you can take a tour boat to the statue of liberty, i think it's like...$10-15? don't remember. all the good bars that i know are along bad neighborhoods of brooklyn and bronx... not very classy or clean places lmaoo. go to new york city and they have a whole strip of clubs and bars... REAL ones. i forgot the street though but if you ask around, i'm pretty sure you'll find it. and if you get the chance to, go to Nubar lounge, it's mostly live on thursdays though but it's a really nice bar/club. if you want the address to it, PM me. have fun smile.gif Edited by L0SA

and i heard if you wait for a few months, they might reopen the crown

Congress might force the National Park Service to allow access to the crown that has been closed since 9/11.

In New York City, it's illegal to shake a dust mop out a window

In New York, it's against the law to throw a ball at someone's head for fun.

In New York, it is illegal to eat peanuts and walk backwards on the sidewalks when a concert is on

The New York City Transit Authority has ruled that women can ride the city subways topless. New York law dictates that if a man can be somewhere without a shirt, a woman gets the same right. The decision came after arrests of women testing the ordinance on the subways. A transit police spokesman said they would comply with the new rule, but "if they were violating any other rules, like sitting on a subway bench topless smoking a cigarette, then we would take action." Smoking is not allowed in the subways.

A fine of $25 can be levied for flirting. This old law specifically prohibits men from turning around on any city street and looking "at a woman in that way." A second conviction for a crime of this magnitude calls for the violating male to be forced to wear a "pair of horse-blinders" wherever and whenever he goes outside for a stroll.

That's not true, there's tons of stuff to do in Fargo! There's a mall... kind of. And a river. Well, that floods a lot I guess. There's a few movie theaters, oh wait everyone has those. Hmm... there's not even a hill in Fargo. Oh wait, we have bars. No shortage of bars. And white people. Lots and lots of us white people... blend in with the snow. Fargo does suck !@#$%^&* because it's full of Fargo-ans and just too many people in general. Now Portal, North Dakota... that's where the party's at! But hey, if you are in Fargo... Chub's Pub.

And yes, there are tons of things to do in the Cities... like get your throat cut.

I live on Long Island, about 60 miles away from New York City. Stay away from hobo's.. One guy broke my car's window because I only gave him 2 dollars. Always stay away from drunk people... You don't know what they can do..

I wouldve run the hobo over...cars revenge...

Why would I want blood all over my car?

Could always clean it after...plus there probably wouldnt be much blood, just more broken bones.

Just drive around a few blocks, hobos with squeegies, cleaning the hobo remains...

That is what we lions call the Circle of Life, Simba.

I have a beard and no one looks at me twice...

That's a lie. It happens all the time. !@#$%^&*, just last week, James Hetfield (lead singer of Metallica) was interrogated by security at an airport because he was described as having a "taliban-like" beard. Goes to show that persecution is not against arab looking folk only, it's also against bearded folk.

Which is gay considering how much good guys have had beards. Jesus had a beard, various depictions of God show him having a beard. !@#$%^&*, Gandalf and Dumbledore had beards. Brad Pitt had a beard for awhile, tho I think everyone agrees that that was a bit weird.

Things I did not understand about NYC (I don't have the photos yet though):

  • There was that constant smoke coming from the underground... wtf is that?
  • Nitrogen tanks every few corners... wtf?
  • I did not see a single tree that still had bark... Do they even take care of their trees? How the !@#$%^&* can they live without any bark? (bark? is that even the right word? that's what my french-english dictionnary gave me, but it sounds wrong)

Was it smoke or something like steam or fog? That could just be from the sewers I bet. Yes, bark is the right word, and it probably gets stolen by the hobos as toilet paper. As far as nitrogen tanks...if it's anhydrous ammonia they could be using it to make meth. Did they say Nitrogen on them or were they just pressure tanks, cuz then they could be propane.
