Freewebtown officially pissed me off with the stupid down times once too many.

Is there still any reliable hosting (without ads or without unbyp!@#$%^&*able ads blum.gif ) with around 100mb space and a reasonable amount of bandwidth/month ?

(I don't care about my site enough to pay for it so i kinda need a free one blum.gif )

And as a side note, anyone knows a good wysiwyg html editor aside from frontpage (i totally suck at writing html, and designing without wysiwyg)?

thx

Dreamhost is very good and practically free.

When you click the link you can get a full $97 discount, so a Level 1 ("Crazy Domain Insane!") 1 year plan with 150 GB disk space and 1500 GB bandwidth per month and a free domain name will only cost you $23.

I'm not trying to get you into buying it but it's so cheap it's nuts smile.gif . I have it myself too and everything works perfectly. Good control panel, nice dreamhost blog and status blog and uptimes are good too. It's shared hosting so uptimes aren't 100% but it has surprised me the uptime never went below 99% (check twcore.org - bottom right).

If you need ss-related hosting, I can give you that for free on ss-network.net or sshq.net.

EDIT: If you have a domain already, I can hook you up just the same and give you free webhosting. I got tons of space and bandwith I never use myself ;)

Hey you feel like making a fool outta yourself. I got my Master Graduates degree in Web Coding at Lesley University in Cambridge, massachussetts.

Drake, I can give you one of the webhosting plans from http://www.hlrse.net/ for free. cPanel and genuine yourdomain.com support (or could do subdomain.hlrse.net). If you need a custom plan, I can do that also. The plan would be free for you guys to keep and use as personal space if you wish.

EDIT :: I've tried Dreamhost and they're the worst piece of crap ever. Not the kind of hosting most people would be looking for. That webhosting is in a totally difference perspective, like a MySpace webhosting account. Real hosting starts at having a dedicated server of your own. You choose the software, etc. cPanel is an example of one of those software. If you took Dreamhost, you would get nowhere with real webhosting. You can't host things like myspace.com, yahoo.com, and other things like that even close to easily with Dreamhost (maybe not at all).

As for their control panel, regardless of it being in AJAX or not, it has a cluttered, somewhat poor and developer-friendly, messy design. It needs total reevaluation and redesign from scratch.

(cPanel != Dreamhost control panel) = control panel

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=598172 - By the way, they don't refund PayPal transactions (which is one of the more ironic and stupidest things yet of Dreamhost). Watch as a Dreamhost suckup defends Dreamhost.

EDIT2 :: Try cPanel at http://www.hlrse.net/ using the Guest (or Demo) login username and password. smile.gif

EDIT3 :: One of the things most high-end webhosting companies do is to oversell (duh) and include high numbers. For example, "150GB Webspace and 1500GB Monthly Transfer." Even though it is guaranteed, you are spending more money than you honestly need to. Who ever uses up their full 150GB (and to mention a lot of companies out there have a scheme where you can't use their space as a file storage, or can only make up for that space through HTML, PHP, CSS, etc do!@#$%^&*ents) webspace? Bandwidth is the same matter. However in my case, I can pretty much guarantee that the bandwidth I would provide you wouldn't run out as quickly as you would expect. A mirror of Sven Co-op v3.0 takes up about 300GB of monthly transfer per month. So unless you are planning to mirror a huge, popular mod for some game -- bandwidth shouldn't be very much of an issue.

Most users use only from 5mb to no more than 1gb of webspace, whilst a "maximum range" of 40gb to 80gb of monthly transfer. People who actually use their full allotment should atleast be investigated to make sure they aren't storing warez or anything. :\ If not warez or any other illegal stuff, then it is a rare but genuine sight to see someone taking full usage of their account.

Hopefully if you had even a bachelor's degree in something loosely related to software development you would know that HTML is nowhere near coding.

Hai Distort, guess how long it took me to get my Bachelor's Degree in coding for HTML, XHTML, and CSS? :(

L.C. you really don't know what you're talking about if you try to take down Dreamhost. It's a !@#$%^&* good host and works really well.

I'm not going into your points of your post since I don't want to start fussing about it. I'm only saying you're totally wrong and everything Dreamhost promises they don't joke about.

You can never compare dedicated hosting against shared-hosting.

Not only do they not have an IT masters program, which I don't think knight even realizes is above a bachelors, they do not even offer an IT bachelors.

And rofl at having his masters at age 20.

This kid is amusing.

lol, d1

2 questions:

1: Did you make that?

2: Do you watch Mythbusters?

and i also want to say, just because someone puts a birthday in their profile, does not regard it as truth. I could have put 1976 and no one would know the difference
