wilkins502 Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Whenver i click continuum.exe or any of the others, (0.39, 0.39, 0.39pr1) it crashes immediately, it wont even start up. Ive played it before on thsi computer along time ago so i dont noe what the problem is. Do i need any updates from microsoft to play or anything like that?
sil Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) What have you tried? Have you tried removing everything from your continuum folder and reinstalling? edit: try stuff in this link too http://forums.sscentral.com/index.php?showtopic=13180 Edited June 28, 2007 by sil
Shock Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) What do you mean by crashes immediately? What exactly happens? EDIT: Oops. Didn't see sil already posted the link. Edited June 28, 2007 by Shock
sil Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I'm sneaky like that ^_^ And yes, a more detailed description would be nice. Does it load the splash screen (the big red blob that says continuum)? Does it even get to loading the (mind blank not sure what to call it) main screen where you can select zones and such? If it does not, does it show up in your task manager? (ctrl+alt+delete, go to processes tab and sort by Image Name). Also, are you running Windows XP or Vista?
wilkins502 Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Well it doesnt load anything, I dbl click, the mouse turns into the hourgl!@#$%^&* for half a second, then nothing.. contiuum.exe isnt in the processes, its not anywhere, i tried uninstalling reinstall, i tried copying my brothers folder (his works fine) didnt work, i tried all the versions, i tried running in compatibility mode for 95,98,NT, and 2000, none worked. The only time i get any difference is if i run it in 256 colors, then all that happens is it changes the config on the video card refreshes the screen, goes black for a second, changes back. No contiuum at all. I have windows xp SP2 pro edition. Ive run it on this computer before, the only difference is the antivirus i have. Which i stopped, exited, killed in the processes. Even went so far as to using msconfig, stopping it from starting and restarting, still nothing..
wilkins502 Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 I uninstalled avast, added it through zonealarm, stopped guard.exe (donno what that is ive nevr seen it b4) stopped soundmax drivers.. im literally trying everything.. ive stopped everyprocess that isnt needed to run windows, and it still doesnt work. im trying to reinstall now with all those processes downed.. im gonna see if taht changes anything.
Shock Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 It's not in the processes at all? Make sure you have the "Show processes from all users" box checked. If it's really not there, try running it directly from the Continuum Program Files folder: C:\Program Files\Continuum\
wilkins502 Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Ive done that, i only have one user running, but i checked anyway, i just tried to run it on a user acct without admin rights, it didnt work, ive run it directly, as i said ive tried all the different versions of the exe that are in the folder. Ive tried installing it on my secondary drive, my main drive, even on a memory key. None worked. It doesnt seem to be initiating at all.. i moved the .dll's that are in there, and it did the exact same thing, no error at all...
wilkins502 Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 yeah, its actually called a memory key
Shock Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Now, that's really weird. I'm fresh out of ideas, sorry.
